[FIXED] [DU] Troubles getting/keeping roommates

This was off campus. I updated some mods and cleaned one of the bathroom sinks and I think it fixed it. My roommate came home and said that she was happy again. I think this might be a glitch or something but its like if one appliance is broken or dirty even for less than a day your roommate freaks out and threatens to leave.

What happens when the bug occurs? never get any responses to my roommate ads, no matter how may extra beds there are

just started a fresh save, as my other has ongoing lock issues... and figured it was that, but no. i still am not getting any npc sim showing up to be a roommate

  @Gutzyella I've been having this same problem ever since I started playing DU late last year. In several different game saves, both with and without mods, I've never had a single NPC respond to a roommates wanted ad. It works fine for most people but I have not been able to figure out why it won't work for me. My only work-around has been to ask NPC's directly if they'd like to move in as a roommate. If they are homeless and not already in a household with other Sims they usually say yes and move in. I've had four long-term roommates in my games with no other problems than the expected random quirks they get from the roommate hidden traits system.

  @Gutzyella I've not had issues getting roommates in my game, and I was just working on some information about what has worked for me. It may or may not include some step or factor that would be helpful for you, but if you want to check I thought I'd mention it.
  I have no Mods in my game. I was chatting with @RandomBuzziness and found that the method of asking an acquaintance did not work for her without an ad posted. We were wondering if this was due to Mods. Since you also have Mods, @Gutzyella, I was wondering if they're possibly affecting this process in any way? @PugLove888 also has no Mods/CC and she was kind enough to test this method for me and it worked in her game like in mine. Plus if a Mod/CC is causing one issue it may be causing others (and may need an update to address this).
  Maybe you could try moving your Mods folder to your desktop, then delete the localthumbnailcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder (your game will re-create this folder next time you open the game). Then you could re-enter your game and see if the any features of roommates are working better. If they are please check all mods for updates then re-add them one at time, testing after each addition, to see if any still cause an issue.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Start a save, buy a house, have enough beds and put the request to get "Potential Roommates", and wait. For me no one is showing up.
What happens when the bug occurs? Any "Potential Roommates" show up, when I put a request after several days.
What do you expect to see? A "Potential Roommates" have to show up after my request and ask to live in my home for a while.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.

Hi !
I know that we can, with Discover University, have Roommates at home, not in the Campus. But when I want a random Roommates, he or she never show up to my home after I put a request for that. I can get a Roommate with my Sim's friends, but not with the request. So, I would like you to do something for my issue, please.

    But I read the 8 pages, and I saw 2 people who have the same issue, but the only solution I found is asking to a NPC to be a roommate,
    I have already thought to this solution but I would like the request work.
    P.S. : What is the difference between Reply and Quick Reply ?

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs bar eco-lifestyle and get famous. Only game pack I have is parenthood.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When selecting on the phone or computer 'place an advertisement for roommate'
What happens when the bug occurs? No NPC Potential roommates show up even though there are 2 single beds and only 1 sims already in the household. And enough space for this roommate to live here. It has been a week in the game and noone has appeared yet some people do knock on the door but they just want to visit and are not displayed as 'potential roommates.'
What do you expect to see? For NPC potential roommates to appear after a few sims days.

Please describe the patch or change you made. After purchasing discover university on the 13th of May 2020, where this feature is available and when I first tried it, it did not work.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Advertise for roommates 2. Accept 2 x roommates 3. Play for a few days 4. My roommates disappeared after 2 days of living on my lot 5. Invite to hangout at current lot 6. My social interaction for roommates had disappeared here
What happens when the bug occurs? Roommates do not stay living on my lot. Social interaction for roommates (kick out / accept roommate) disappears when the npc sim is invited to hangout at current lot
What do you expect to see? Roommates continuing to live on the lot until I kick them out. Social interactions to remain. Notification if the NPC had decided to move out. Notification about roommates needs or complaints.

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue or similar, I got my sims to advertise for 2 roommates. These spaces were filled by 2 NPC’s and the new roommates were around for a couple of days.

My sims were just starting their university term (from home, not on a university campus/lot) & hadn’t travelled or done anything off their home lot.

I did not have any notifications about the roommates needs or complaints whilst they lived on my lot, which where I’ve read other questions this seems to be something I should be seeing.

After the roommates had been there for a couple of days I then noticed they didn’t seem to be anywhere on the lot, not in their rooms outside or surrounding, and when I looked for the sims on the relationships tab I had an option to invite to hangout at current lot - which I thought was strange as they were supposed to be living here!

When I invited them round to see if they would stay or see if I could kick them out then invite them to be roommates again I noticed the roommates option on the social interactions was completely gone, and in my sims phone I cannot advertise for roommates again.
The beds are still assigned to the roommates that were here so I have no idea what has happened or how to fix this!

Hoping someone can suggest a fix for this!

  Update: I have found a temporary fix by deleting the bed which were assigned to the roommates, I now have the option to advertise for new roommates.
  
  Still unsure what happened to the last ones or why I didn’t get any notifications.

    Has anybody figured this out yet? I'm having the same problem, roommate was fine for 2 days then early morning she had a bath and I got the notification that her needs weren't being met, later on that day she up and moved out. My sim lives in a house in Oasis Springs, there are 2 beds for roomies to choose from, my sim sleeps in a Murphy bed in the living room, a bath and a shower, fully functional kitchen, TV, easel, laptop, microscope, rocket and an observatory, stereo and dance floor, meditation seat, a yoga mat and a bookshelf. I don't know what she possibly have been complaining about! My sim has a dog but he never bothered her and she barely acknowledged him. The house is clean, apart from the puddles of water whenever someone gets a drink - thank you Paranormal update - but I'm constantly cleaning those up. The traits I discovered about her was foodie and paranoid, so unless that has something to do with it, I really don't understand why she was unhappy. The only thing I can think of is something that was missing from the lot, like a pool, musical instruments etc but she spent all her time in the bedroom on the laptop, occasionally she would read a book or hide under the covers of her chosen bed - her paranoia at work I assume. If it is the lack of such things though, can I just say, that's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to have such things in order to have a roommate and it needs to be made clearer what exactly it is they are looking for. I would prefer it if - when they are accepted as a roommate - they gave a list of things they require, the same way they ask for space to put their things. Or for them to not accept being a roommate due to the lack of such and such. I have pics of the notifications but the files are too big lol.

@crinrictI didn't see an answer in this thread but I found out what the problem is. Any bed other than a single bed (other than for your sims):
1- will not allow the game to let you post for roommates
2- if you buy single beds for each person it will work
3- if you try to hide the single beds in the basement and assign the roomies to sleep in the doubles they wont.
Therefore their needs for sleep get Insane and they move out pissed off you haven't provided them what they need (ie. Beds to sleep in)
If you only have doubles, even with a single sim, you will have all these issues.

EA needs to check the double bed system (attached to universities pack maybe?) and see what the coding issue is for double beds and roommates.

Workaround.... buy only single beds for roommates
