I noticed it being weird in CAS first, it wouldn't let me make some sims another sims parent. For example: Sim A and B had sim c. Sims A and B say that C is their child, but C says only one is the parent and the other is their roomate. In game, it was fine.However, in the relationship panel, every sim that my sims have together, it says that the relationship between them is "sister" instead of "daughter"... or it will just say aquaintance. I even went to manage households, deleted the children and remade them with the right relationships but when I went back to live mode, it's all crazy again.

Apparently they've eliminated the original problem by preventing updates to the relationship flags after they've been set for any pair of sims therefore you can only insert new sims and add new relationships to the family tree. The new problem is that if you add more than five sims to the household, options become unselectable based on the selections for the first five. The options are grayed out and on hover the popup indicates that 'pre-existing sims cannot be edited' regardless of edit mode. Effectively, family relationships can no longer be updated in any way.

I'm having the same problem; sim A and B had a child together but the child views sim A as a sister and not a mother (Sim A also views her own child as a brother) while sim B is fine as the father. I wanted to add a few things I've noticed that may help.
Sim A and B both adopted another child, with sim A being the one that initiated the adoption. Sim A is considered a sister by that adopted child, and and sim A also considered her adopted child her sister. I've also noticed it's not just their children who are having the issue. Sim A's brother, Sim C, had a child with a different woman. This child would be a nephew to Sim A, but he views her as a sister and she views him as a brother.
Also, none of these children born were made in CAS. I tried editing their relationships through testingcheats on, cas.fulleditmode, and modify in cas and it only had the option for roommate or sister/brother in regards to the relationship between sim A and any of the children. All the sims who made the children were young adults (except for sim C's girlfriend, who was an adult).

I actually had my sim "Try for baby" before I remade them in CAS... and at first all they all had normal relationships...but I think I may have pinpointed the problem. It happened to 7 babies.
If you use the cheat to go into CAS and modify the sim, after you go back into the game, all the relationships are messed up... at least for me.
I've read that some people are having problems after moving (on another website).
Then when I try to use the cheat again to FIX the relationships.. it says that I can't edit pre-existing sims </3

I started off my household With Tevin (father, huband to Tiffany) YA

Tiffany (mother, wife to Tevin) YA

Cerenity (daughter of Tif anf Tevin) Child

Connie (sister to Tif. aunt to Cerenity) Adult

Later on Tif anf Tev had the twins Lilly Rose and Daisy Belle.

Later on Connie married Lane, whom I added to the household after modifying in CAS

Then I was going to move out Tif anf her fam after aging up Cerenity to teen, when I noticed all her daughters see her as her roomate not mother...also connie is seen as a roomate instead of Tifs sister. No Aunt relationship...though they still see Tevin as father.

Tried to change, but says can't edit pre existing sims.

EDIT: SORRY WAS TRYING TO POST AN IN GAME SCREEN SHOT, IDK HOW.

This problem seems to be caused by the cheat cas.fulleditmode

Do not use the cheat on families

For some strange reason it's showing my sim's children as her brother and sister, I've tried testingcheats true cheat, along with the cas.fulleditmode. That's coming up with room mate, I've tried changing it and it's not letting me for some reason.

Edit: I've tried this cheat and it didn't work for me “Modifyrelationship YourSim(first name) YourSim(last name) TargetSim(first name) TargetSim(last name) (-)50 Track_type” –Modifies relationship between two sims
Types of relationships (friends and romance): “Friendship_Main and Romance_Main”
Examples: “Modifyrelationship Beatrix Monroe Alexia Mercado -50 Friendship_Main” [For negative friendship] and “ModifyrelationshipBeatrix Monroe Alexia Mercado 50 Romance_Main” [For positive romance]

Had the same problem, but found out the following.
At my case it only showed up when I had playable character and created her a kid by CAS through family editor. Then it had been obvious that CAS is glitching at relations setup, and sister thing already appears here. When they both get in game, they are actually sisters.
In case I, even in CAS first added man and after that made a child of them both - it loads and sets correctly.
Looks like not fully developed feature, but it definitely is a bug.
Comparing to those making greater problems it's still ok, but it's not a thing we expect of single player game at 50+ bucks cost.
