There's no option to remove dead plants when it happens, but there's also no harvestables.Nor can the level 10 gardener who doesn't actually live at the lot revive the plants.
I did some shift-click reset object on each plant (ugh, fortunately their mother/mother-in-law is the gardener and she set them up with a small selection of necessities: money tree, plasma fruit, death flower) and reloaded the lot, but that was NOT a real fix. Things would be okay long enough to harvest once.
Reading the whole thread (like I should have to start with, lol)... this was when the Conservationist nephew who lives across the street was trying really hard to make the neighborhood green (I play rotationally). Conservationist's aunt was on board and upgraded all the appliances to be energy efficient, etc., but her spouse kept lighting the fireplace (in the summer!) and switching the footprint back to neutral that way. (BTW, I thought they'd fixed the thing where vampires are obsessed with the fireplace!)
When I moved the Conservationist's half-sister next door and had her upgrade all her appliances, plant trees, etc., the neighborhood became solidly green. I hadn't made the association before, but in retrospect I do think that's when it stopped happening.
