[FIXED] Sims won't use dishwasher that's in the room if sink is closer
When Sims are finished eating and they're about to clean the dishes, they won't use the dishwasher despite being in the same room as the Sim. This happens if you have both a sink and a dishwasher.
In this screenshot, I show the bathroom sink and the dishwasher. It turns out when the Sim is trying to clean dishes, the game chooses the nearest object to use which in the image is a bathroom sink. The sink in the bathroom is closer to the dining table than the dishwasher so the game has the Sims use the sink although the dishwasher is in the same room.
It can be a problem depending on the house if the bathroom happens to be placed closer to the dining table. If a plate is on a table and a Sim attempts to clean it, they won't use the dishwasher and instead try to wash it with a sink. If the plate is near a dishwasher, they'll use it.
To workaround this problem, placing the dishwasher and table close to each other will fix it. In the screenshot, placing the dishwasher under the counter on the left next to the dining table had Sims use the dishwasher whereas if it was on the right, they'll go to the sink.
Edit: It looks like that the Sim will prioritize the sink over the dishwasher for one plate/bowl. Even if the dishwasher happens to be closer, the Sim will still use the sink(s) that are on the lot. In The Sims 3 if I recall, the Sim always used the dishwasher even for one plate/bowl but it doesn't seem to be the case in The Sims 4. Due to this behavior, this can makes dishwashers less useful than in previous games.
- Sims now prefer to wash their dishes in a dishwasher rather than a sink.
