Yes, it's still an issue.
This was never really a bug. The problem is that files with null fields within the ID3 tags or incomplete/missing headers cannot be read by the game. This is intentional and necessary since null data causes fatal exceptions wherever there is no validation of data structure or integrity.
To solve the problem you can edit the ID3 tags with any media player such as winamp or tag editor which is capable of updating metadata.
If you need a free editor, try the open-source AHD ID3 Tag Editor

@ForestNinja0Thanks for the information. I'm off to fix some of my bad mp3s as I type. However, I'm not sure that this is the issue experienced in this particular thread. Everyone in this thread is saying that the venue speakers won't play custom music, while the home radios will. If the game could not read these mp3s due to null information, they wouldn't be playable at all, correct?

Your files aren't bad and ID3 tagging isn't necessary for any part of the encoding/decoding process however it is the current standard for mp3 metadata [information about tracks, artists, labels, file origin, etc] and it was clear to me that the game required it when I noticed that it was unable to display filenames. All of my custom tracks were listed with strings of invalid characters such as 'uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu' and I could only play one track under one genre. The game will play at least one track until it encounters the error, then it won't play another custom track therefore you'll have to remove or edit all of the files which are missing the ID3 data.
My sims party happily to their custom house techno everywhere they go with any stereo object, including venue speakers, after editing the ID3 tags.

But what's the difference between venue speakers and others that this is a problem on them and not the rest of the audios ?

Custom music now plays as expected on all venue speakers!- Local DJs rejoice as they are once again free to play their music selections for all Sim-kind. Avant-garde, the Ballads, and Calypso… the Xoomii, Yodeling, and Zydeco! Styles to suit the needs of all playing issue free!
This was addressed in Patch 1.17.7
Before marking it as fixed, I'd like to take feedback if this is fully or partially fixed

I placed mp3s in Romance folder and the Sim Retro folder. Neither are playing the custom mp3s on the venue speakers. The songs, as before, play on home stereos, but still do not play on the venue speakers. It doesn't appear to be fixed. Would be interested if they work for anyone else. Also, is this Baroque station new? I have never noticed it until the patch.
