Greyed out Icon

I believe all my CC is up to date, but I'll try it without them. Will temporarily disabling the mods be doable or do I need to go in and physically delete them?

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? If I knew, I would do it myself.
What happens when the bug occurs? My sims return to the home lot from the activities indicate din description and their profile in the bottom left corner indicated they are still engaged in the activity. No access to Inventory. Ect.
What do you expect to see? I expect my sims to return from rabbit hole activities in the same state as they left, with the same functioning properties they left having.

Please describe the patch or change you made. I recently bought, downloaded and began to play with City Living, Discover University, Island Living, Seasons, Laundry Day Stuff, and Tiny Living. All in one go. Shortly after installation, an update did come through. I would not know how to see details on what that update consisted of.

I am experiencing a glitch with my rabbit holes. Specifically rabbit holes associated with going to school, university classes, and jobs (apparently not the engineer career though). When my sims come back from these essential activities, they appear on my lot but their profile indicates that they are still engaged in the prior activity. This has hindered my sims from accessing their inventory, attending other university classes, be able to fulfill all needs, and (somehow this is being affected) their clothes and hair are disappearing. This is occurring across multiple save files.

I am at a super frustrated point right now with my game. I had not bought an expansion pack for the Sims 4 since Get to Work came out. I decided all the way back then that the Sims 4 sucks so I stopped playing it. I went back to playing Sims 2, 3 and Sims Medieval. Well a few days ago, I bought 7 expansion packs, stuff packs, and kits. There was a sale and I decided maybe the problem was that I lacked content in my game. It is almost humorous that the game is giving me this much trouble. It is the most challenging the Sims 4 has ever been. Unfortunately this is not the kind of challenge I seek to experience in my games. And it isn't funny because I just spent $100 to enhance my experience in this stupid game. If these problems go away, I hope to find some enjoyment in my game. I became really invested in the story I was playing only for this to happen. Help.

@maddyd2017 Are you using SoL ? I think that still has a bug that causes this.

Merged this with the other bug report for now but if you get this for all Sims all the time, it's usually a mod.

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except Cottage Living, Journey to Batuu, Dream Home decorator, Paranormal, Nifty Knitting, Moschino, and Romantic Garden.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Send your sim to work. When they come home, their icon is still at work.
What happens when the bug occurs? The sim comes home from work but their Icon is grey and it looks like they are still at work.
What do you expect to see? Well when they come home, they should actually come home.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

Please describe the patch or change you made. The update on 9.27.21 is when I started noticing the issue

I've tried everything, including removing the mods. I've since put them back because it's making no difference for me. I thought if I waited until the next patch update, it would stop, but it has gotten worse. Before I could travel somewhere else and it would fix the problem for a day. Now, that doesn't even work. I know this has been brought up in the past but has this been happening to anyone else in 2021.

For clarification:

My sim goes to work and comes home, but their icon stays at work. Which means... I have no access to my inventory, I don't get paid, and I don't get promoted. 

I haven't played this game in more than a month, and I've never had a bug I couldn't fix/get around until now. I can't play this way. 

The first thing I did was update my mods. 
The second thing I did was delete any recent mods that I had added to the game.

The third thing I did was remove mods but it was after I had noticed the bug.
