[GRO] Practice Crawling Times Out Without Practicing

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.97.62.1220
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? GRO, CoL, SE, DU, IL, CD, CL, GTW, W, SV, RoM, JA, PSP, LDSP, TLSP, BNSP, KRSP, MSP, LCK, DLK
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a normally built/furnished house - ie with furniture in it and not acres of open space everywhere - and tell parent to "practice crawling" with infant.
What happens when the bug occurs? The parent walks away from the infant to pick an area to practice crawling - often even if they are in an area open enough for them to have done so previously they'll decide to pick somewhere else this time - and since the infant's scoot is so slow, the parent's action times out before they get there. Infant never learns to crawl (unless I build a jail cell with nothing in it but the infant and 1 adult, with enough room to practice crawling but not much more than that).
What do you expect to see? If the parent can't practice crawling where they are, they should pick their infant up and carry them to the spot they choose to practice crawling - not walk to the other side of the house without them and then wait impatiently before quitting.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I've never used mods in this save, but have on other saves. Here we have Mom, who abandoned her baby Irene in the nursery to go sit in the hallway. Irene barely made it out her door before Mom decided she was taking too long and wandered off to watch her son do his homework.

This happens nearly every time I try to practice crawling. Another time, remembering this one, I first got both Mom & baby in the open hallway before choosing practice crawling. Mom left baby there and went and sat next to the single bed on the left. That time Irene made it a full halfway to Mom before Mom quit and I think went to go eat something. The only time it reliably works is when I put them in a small room together with no door.

  • Same problem. I tried taking my infant to the new Rec Center where there's lots of room, that sort of worked, but practice crawling is still likely to time out if the parent chooses a spot that's too far away from the infant.

  • @PipMenace I've noticed this a lot recently as well, and it's not just with crawling. Sometimes it happens when you're trying to take care of the infant's needs, parents will pick a spot that's too far away for the shuffling infants to reach and the "wait" will time out. But the adults have no problem completely halting for almost an entire sim hour while a random NPC from across the map slowly makes their way over to talk. >.>
  • I'm also encountering this issue. It's frustrating to see Mom abandoning baby Irene in the nursery like that. I've never used mods in this save either, but it seems like there might be some glitch affecting the interactions between Mom and Irene. I've tried similar things like getting them into the open hallway or a small room without a door, but it still doesn't work reliably. Hopefully, there's a solution or a patch for this soon.

    Hey all,

Just checking in to see if anyone is still seeing this on a modless game as we've been unable to reproduce it on our end.

If so please share your save file with us (instructions: http://x.ea.com/74420) so we can take a look.

    Thanks!
