@EmeraldLaura Ohh okay. That's kinda lame lol I never noticed it before. I'm going to accept your post as a solution, as it seems to be by design. Thanks for the help!
Qualities are: Poor, Normal, Good, Excellent ? Is there also outstanding quality ?
They they all go to normal when you make a copy ?

I tried to test this a little:
When making a copy, the quality on the painting when hovering over it in personal inventory - where it ends up automatically - went from original quality:
Poor--> Poor; Normal-->Poor; Excellent-->Normal; Masterpiece-->Masterpiece.
When taking the copied paintings of quality Masterpiece out of personal inventory, and hanging them on the wall on the home lot where they were painted/copied; they showed Normal quality. Simolean value did not change. When toggling original paintings of quality Masterpiece and Excellent in and out of inventory, the quality did not change.
When travelling with copied paintings in personal inventory, of qualities: Masterpiece and Normal, and from one neighbourhood to another in Windenburg; the paintings all showed Normal quality. When travelling with originals with the same quality, they stayed the same and were still shown as Masterpiece and Excellent.
Painting skill and the outcome is very complex in the game, and some testing needs to be done. There is only one Me Too here, so those interested in getting it fixed need to help out 🙂
Here are a couple of questions to try to narrow it down:
1. Which category does the painting belong to - Impressionism, Realism etc.
2. What quality were they painted in, on the easel - Poor, Normal, Excellent, Masterpiece?
3. Do they all revert to the same quality when in inventory - or is it different depending on the original quality?
4. What is the original quality when it degrades in inventory, and what does it turn into?
5. Does the simolean value change in anyway, at any time?
6. Does the quality and value change when travelling with paintings in inventory - personal and/or household; original and /or copy? To what?
7. Does the quality and simolean value change when taking the paintings out of inventory, for instance hanging them on a wall?
8. Why are you making paintings and copies, for what purpose in game? To sell, place on wall as decoration, etc, and do they fulfill that purpose?

@DonroaAkashu I have answers to some of your questions:
1. Which category does the painting belong to - Impressionism, Realism etc. All categories
2. What quality were they painted in, on the easel - Poor, Normal, Excellent, Masterpiece?: I know Normal and above (I thought there is an Outstanding level? That might just be books though) will change to Normal. Not sure about Poor, I will have to check that.3. Do they all revert to the same quality when in inventory - or is it different depending on the original quality? They all revert to Normal
8. Why are you making paintings and copies, for what purpose in game? To sell, place on wall as decoration, etc, and do they fulfill that purpose? I really only make copies when I want to sell my Sim's paintings at a festival or at a store, but I also want to decorate their house with the originals. They do fulfill the purpose, only the copies are not the same quality as the original. They look the same, the image itself doesn't change, like how you will see the image gets better as the Sim's skill increases. My Sim very rarely sells paintings at festivals, but I'm not sure if that's because they're Normal quality or not, because my Sim also very rarely sells anything on the table at the Flea Market, so it might just be my game...or my luck.
