The minute I got to the apt for my first gig, I knocked on the door and did 'respectful greeting' and was told I was being inappropriate, yelled at, then immediately fired before I could even take a photo or reno. In my second gig, I got a warning I was being inappropriate after I did a friendly greeting, (she was even being flirty, lol - classic Summer Holiday), but I managed to get thru the gig and get paid.
I do have the 'observant' trait (I bought it right before my first gig thinking maybe it would help me get to know the clients, but maybe its causing the glitch?)
Based on the Carl’s Guide pack review, if a client likes orange, try painting all the walls orange and filling the room with orange objects as a test. (It’ll likely be ugly, sorry.) Ditto with any other stated likes.

You may be onto something, I completely forgot this happened to me!! May be related to the issue, or could be completely separate. It was one gig out of 5 I did, that much I recall. I immediately walked in and got a pop up saying I was behaving inappropriate and needed to stop or I'd be fired. I literally had done nothing and was very confused for a hot minute. I do not have the observant trait and only did a friendly greeting. I quickly discovered likes/dislikes so I could enter reno before being kicked out.
(likes/dislikes being "hates violin, loves piano, hates gardening" for a kitchen reno, which brings up another issue entirely). Hasn't happened since, but only because my reputation is so poor and I got incredibly frustrated playing it thus I refused to do any more gigs, and now can't even select any gigs.
I've sent in my save file to SimGuruNick for the issue at topic regarding unhappy clients, 0 pay, reputation drop, etc so perhaps they could look into this as well. I also mentioned my issue with the "return home" gig payout and gig end pop up not appearing for a long time now, and having to manually travel back home. What is up with DHD??? Any and all saves they can get will help sort out these issues. There's far too many for me to report on every single one lol

My workaround for this has been to question and interview everyone in the household and cater to as many of their likes/dislikes as possible. But I'm playing it for the first time this year and now I only get 3 items on the career panel and nothing in conversation. I used to get a list of their preferences in my notifications but now I get none of that despite talking to them all for a long time. With every client I'm getting the same thing so far. In the career panel I get Likes Video Games, a colour that's usually Yellow plus one furniture choice. So my gigs aren't going well. A couple are happy and one is furious. I've started sending her to work without following her to get her promotions I just choose Work Hard. She is getting burnout though.
