I just tested this out. I moved all my sims out with the old chests and a new one and it was fine this time. So not sure what caused the issue. The only thing I can think that I did last time was that I wanted to move my main sim away from sim's she was living with and in with other sims, but I wanted to move some stuff with her but not all of it, so instead of splitting the household I moved all the sims out and sold the furniture and then split the household and moved the other sims back into the old house, if that makes sense.

It's not just the ICYA - Chest. The Sticker Storage Box from Eco does the same thing.
