- wombatilim5 years agoSeasoned Veteran@crinrict It says fuel level: high, but I tried adding more with bits & pieces and that didn't help.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@wombatilim I know that's an off grid fridge but did you upgrade that as well ?
- wombatilim5 years agoSeasoned Veteran@crinrict I have not upgraded the fridge yet. I can give that a try.
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@wombatilim I kinda wonder if it's the fridge or the stove that's bugged or both
@PoptartJuniper tested on PS and she was able to duplicate so I guess we can safely say something is off. - wombatilim5 years agoSeasoned Veteran@crinrict Tried upgrading the fridge, with no change in results. Still can't initiate hot food from the fridge, and still can't finish cooking something I started from the stove.
I don't mind so much that I can't start the cooking from the fridge, but I should at least be able to finish cooking something I started from the stove. - JanuaryGarnet084 years agoSeasoned Ace
@crinrict This is definitely broken and it seems to go hand in hand with the vacuums that also won't work off the grid [OPEN] [BDK] Vacuums Don’t Work Off The Grid - Answer HQ (ea.com) even when given a fuel cell upgrade. An off the grid compatible stove given the fuel cell upgrade should work like a stove that is on the grid once fueled with either biofuel from the insect farms or with bits/pieces from the recycler in Eco Lifestyle. It would appear the entire fuel cell upgrade system is broken in EP 9 (Eco Lifestyle) not sure when it happened maybe with the BTD kit update? I know it worked fine several months ago because I was using the entire system in a historical save. This was a major feature of the Eco Lifestyle pack and it would be nice to see this get fixed. I'm just not sure how to get it more attention.

can confirm that even with the latest patch today it's still happening.
Edit: after poking around the xmls, I believe the problem may be that tests_to_bypass_utility_requirement isn't actually running, because using this upgrade on a lot without the off the grid lot trait functions normally, with fuel depleting and everything.
Confirmed. I'm still having the issue as well. And when I took the household back on the grid, I had to replace the stove altogether for the sim to be able to cook again.

Same here. Off-the-grid cooking is not working properly.
I upgraded both the fridge and stove, which are both supposed to work off-the-grid, even with eco upgrades, added fuel and still can only cook soup but not anything else. I understand that there is no animation for burning wood under the stove to use the lower part of it. But when I can cook soup then I expect to be able to cook ANYTHING that requires a pot or frying pan.
Cottage living added a pancake stove for off-the-grid. Doesnt work off-the-grid.
I used cheats to generate electricity and VOILA! I was able to cook everything that I couldnt cook before.
Off the grid just seems to be completely broken. No matter how much power I generate, it never lets me use anything or comes up saying I have a power surplus. And I have plenty of a surplus that isn't being used. None of the power cell upgrades are working, either. As fun as it's been to watch them struggle a bit, there's no solution to anything going on. I love the idea of off the grid, but the game just isn't letting me use it.

I cheated to create electricity and I managed to use the stove normally. Apply the upgrades to it. Maybe thats preventing you from using it with the lot trait.
- Lynn19284 years agoNew Rookie@Zasz_Zerg How can we cheat to create electricity?
This is happening to me too. Off-the-grid lot, YumCooker stove (functional off-grid) upgraded with fuel cell using eco parts.

I found myself on this page after thinking I was having this problem (March 2024). BUT, it turns out "prepped ingredients" was the culprit. Once I un-checked the box, my power generator worked as expected.
hi! also apparently thought i was having this issue haha but need to know what you mean by “prepped ingredients” if you could explain it!! thank you!!

Prepped ingredients is a feature of one of the recent packs. I believe it's the Home Chef Hustle stuff pack. If you don't have that pack, then mirandactyl's comment doesn't apply to you.
