Re: [ARCHIVED] Maid caught in a loop cleaning appliances (Neat Trait)

I’m sorry, I’m not technically adept enough to add the video. But as best I can describe, if there are dirty dishes in the kitchen which sit between the front door and the backyard grill, the maid will clean those first. Then move to the grill. But then the maid gets stuck and won’t ever go upstairs to mop for example or scrub toilets.  This is a new issue, just within the last week I think. I am playing the same households and lots for awhile now and did not have this glitch before. 

Found following snippet in grill_Clean section test_autonomous:

unlike every other test, this one doesn't appear in stove_Clean (which seems to be unaffected)

That doesn’t mean anything to me but I’m just a unsophisticated user; hopefully that’s a lead for someone who can explore a fix? I’m glad it looks like an identifiable anomaly. 

It is most definitely happening in multiple households, although I have temporarily removed the grills to prevent the glitch.  I will go back to an older save and see if it happens there too, and will post the results. Thanks for the suggestion 

So I did also try an old save from January at your suggestion, let the lot get filthy over the weekend, and when the maid came on Monday he cleaned all of the inside stuff downstairs first, then went outside and got stuck at the grill opening-cleaning-closing-repeat for at least 1 1/2 sim hours, until I gave up and fired him. 

I’m beginning to wonder if it’s the maid that’s glitchy. Now on a lot where I’ve removed the grill to avoid that stuck loop, he comes snd goes snd ignores dirty dishes sitting plainly on tables and counters. Strange. 

Bug affects NPCs which happen to have the Neat trait. NPCs without this trait only clean grills if dirty.

I have had the same maid for months, and I checked, he does not have the neat trait and only started doing it within the last two weeks or so. 

Went on vacation to Granite Falls tonight and rented the big lodge. He showed up as my maid there too and did the same thing for hours.  I had just arrived. There was nothing to clean. When I finally got tired of him banging the grill lid open and shut I dismissed him and he charged me $160! 

I have been playing a lot over the past year and definitely this is new (for me anyway). 

I have exact same problem as described with base game on pc.  

Well, I am glad at least to see that I’m not completely alone on noticing this! 

This will go on for hours until I dismiss the maid.  The grill wasn't dirty and wasn't used.  Happens every visit. 

I've had the same exact issue. I have not looked into the maid's traits yet but I took away the grill so the maid would clean the rest of the house. 

100% fixed my issue,  My Butler had the Neat trait and removing this trait fixed the issue.  Butler is no longer obsessed with cleaning grills  Now I have to see if they will do laundry.
