Re: [FIXED] Beautifully decorated moddlet broken/ Always poorly decorated

I think I figured at least part of it out!

You know how no matter what you do, it never goes above "Nicely Decorated"?  I think I figured out why...

I was testing a new mod that supposedly fixes the billing system. That worked fine. However it got me interested in the Lot bonuses and penalties. I started putting down floors, walls, and roof pattern that boosted lot tax breaks. Some of them had "Minor Environmental Gain" +2.

In the living room, where I had a painting environment +10, I never got above "Nicely" after ECO when it should be "Beautiful".

Once I put down the floor and walls with "Minor environmental gain +2" each, I finally got "Beautifully Decorated"!

I think how it works, is environment decorations cap out at "Nicely" and it's adjusted by floors, walls and other objects with "Environmental Gain" or "Environmental Loss".  So, if you have lots of environment+ objects but also have stuff with "Environmental Loss" like floor patterns, wall patterns, you might still get "Poorly Decorated".

It severely limits what you can use for floors and walls if you want "beautiful", but at least now we know why...

Did EA ever fix this?  I have a huge lot that is decorated up and down and all of my Sims are miserable.  The game is all but unplayable.

  • As of today, no. I finally had enough to move my sim into the largest lot, where I had a few buildings and a pool. I was going to keep decorating with things he builds and finds in dumpster dives. It worked on the last lot, with just a 2 story building with a basement. I have been following him everywhere to see where it triggers, and it seems random. One second the room he's in is nicely decorated, and the next, it's dismally decorated.

I was wracking my brain and changing everything, and making sure the rooms he was in were all painted and floored. If it is the entire lot all the time, this is a huge problem.
