I just had this in my apartment too. I had just moved in and the stink moodlet came right away. Try to put the tea kettle in your household inventory in build mode and check if that helps. I did and it went away. Tried to buy a different kettle again and the stink moodlet came back. So maybe there's a bug going on with the tea kettles.
