Re: [FIXED] [HR] Sim keeps autonomously wanting to buy mini goats/Sheep

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
What is your current game version number? 1.89
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except For Rent Expansion Pack, Castle Estate Kit and Goth Galore Kit.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go to high school with a teen sim in High School Years Expansion Padk and just play through the school day.
What happens when the bug occurs? At random times, a menu that shows that I am playing as the principal when I am not doing at all and it is the menu to buy mini goats and sheeps from Horse Ranch Expansion Pack.
What do you expect to see? That the menu will never open.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. It was patch version 1.89 (On console)

I discovered this when I was playing with my new legacy challenge family. The Gen 2 sim was a teen and I decided to go to high school with him and just randomly, the menu appeared.

  • It is this menu right here, but with a picture of the principal in that green circle in the top left corner and it will pop up at high school.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw this thread on the first page of the bug forum because it's not actually what I came here to report but it did happen to me a few hours ago and I do have a screenshot, so here you go, me too!

My sim was meeting with the principal on her first day of high school when the pop up occurred, coming from a student not in the active household who was using a computer on the lot. I later discovered that all other interactions under the Household sub-menu were greyed out with a note saying you can't use them while at school, but the mini sheep/goats one wasn't, which I guess explains how it was able to happen, but not why it was being done autonomously by non-household sims, and not why I was getting a pop-up to resolve an action taken by a non-household sim.

    My patch level is: 1.105.245.1020

My packs are: Cats & Dogs, City Living, Get To Work, Cottage Living, Eco Lifestyle, Growing Together, High School Years, Seasons, Horse Ranch, Werewolves, Strangerville, Parenthood, Outdoor Retreat, Jungle Adventure, Romantic Garden, Nifty Knitting, My First Pet Stuff, Moschino, Luxury Party, Laundry Day, Backyard Stuff, Holiday Celebration, Fashion Street Kit, and Desert Luxe Kit, and I have never used any CC in this save.

    Here's my screenshot!

  • Yeah, I know. I have to say that I am playing with a legacy challenge family and the 2nd generation sim went to his first day of high school and then that menu came up two times for me. But I went with him to school two more times after his first day and on those days, the menu didn’t pop up. So could it actually be something that only happens if you go with a teenager sim to their first day of high school?

Yeah I've played another two school days in that household without the pop up happening again, so it's definitely possible that this is (somehow) a first day of school specific bug? I will say that what I saw with the everything in the Household sub-menu except the sheep/goats interaction being greyed out thing, I noticed that on one of the later days, so there's elements of this still in place on other days, but maybe there's something in the First Day stuff that's making it more likely to trigger?

This happens to me at libraries too. If you actually buy the goats it takes your money, but they don't go to your inventory.

@Suggen0813 I've seen this happen on my library lot in Willow Creek and also like you said at the high school as well. I think basically what happens is NPC Sims have the ability to use the buy mini animals interaction when they should not be allowed to.

UPDATE: It kind of happened again but different? Friday morning, (their 4th day of high school, since Thursday was a day off due to a holiday), one of my sims is literally just about to take an exam (the bell had just rung) when she gets up out of her seat and goes to walk out of the room. I immediately pause to investigate what she's doing, when I discover the Buy Mini Goats And Sheep interaction is after autonomously popping into her queue and overriding her Take Exam one.

At least it was a sim IN the active household this time? But yeah, I think the best way to nuke this might just be to make this interaction non-autonomous for everyone? It doesn't feel like something your sims should be doing autonomously anyway, since they need your assistance to complete the task, and that would also solve the issue of getting the pop ups triggered by NPCs.

@rexum55 Thanks. That was the word I needed to find the exiting thread. I KNEW there was one not for high school.

    I've merged threads now.

For everyone that clicked me too on the other thread, please make sure to click me too on this one as well.

We all know how cute they are, but Sims will no longer autonomously want to buy mini goats (causing the UI to pop up).

    Fixed in Patch 1.107.112/1.92

Please create a new thread if you're still experiencing this issue,
