Re: [FIXED] Issue with auto-solve (fun & energy) and Free will not working

I have this issue too, after a certain point my sims stop acting on their own, Auto-solve for energy seems to be linked to claiming beds as has been mentioned but I may have found at least one source of broken fun. I don't usually start with a computer for my sim but this time i did and autonomy and auto solve fun broke right away, after removing the pc  she started acting again. Hope this helps, I'd like my game to work normally again.

Good catch on computer, Daugue. I might not be alone on this but I tend to try to get a computer going right from the get go.

But looks like it is the computer causing this after it is used. Everything is fixed after I removed all computers. The Slablet still works and can still be used without causing the problem. Tested up to ghostwriter machine. I only have milton word processor unlocked at the moment but my best guess is it probably just a computer use bug or something.

    Also No mods used.

I am also having this issue: One sim in a family of seven seems to have lost free will. Too bad if the problem is related to computers since I am doing a challenge where the main sim has to reach the top the writer career.

I am also having problems with claimed beds and computers. Removing computers and beds from the house got my sims moving again. Hugely annoying though as my sims keep claiming beds on their own so I am constantly buying new beds. Any way to unclaim a bed / stop the sims from claiming beds on their own?

I have done all the suggestions and still my autonomy and auto-solve is busted. Anyone have any other news? It's game-breaking for me at this point.

Same here.  They just stand around until they pass out and are wasting their lives away at this point.  Help must be on the way?!

Still no word on a patch or fix from EA? This is getting extreme. I can't even play anymore.

They should be working on it but they never give ETA's on bug fixes.

  • This just started happening in my game, too. Energy and fun auto-solve stop working, and some Sims in the house seem to be more affected by it than others. I haven't been able to pinpoint or narrow down to a specific object that might be causing it. The energy thing is almost certainly linked to the beds, but the fun I have no idea - removing all computers from my lot fixed it for awhile but it eventually started up again. I've tried removing other high fun advertising items  but that didn't help. It seems as though there's some specific item that breaks the fun auto-solve once a Sim has interacted with it, but I can't narrow it down, I have a family of 6 currently and the autonomy is busted for 3 of the Sims in the house,  but I would assume that they've all used all the fun objects on the lot at some point or another, so why just those 3 Sims?. I did move the family into a new house and a new lot but like others have said, it fixes the problem only temporarily and then it creeps back in again. .

This has been quite frustrating for sure. I just started playing Sims 4 a couple weeks ago, and played it unpatched for awhile while I got used to the game, so once I did patch and this bug showed up it was really easy for me to tell the difference between the autonomy levels of pre-patch and post-patch. My Sims were far more lively and interesting before, now half of the household stands around unless directed to do something and the other half still has freewill but it seems more limited than it did before - they use the same few items repeatedly and ignore a lot of other stuff in the house that they used to use on their own quite often. I tested other families that I have in the same game and some of them appear to be fine while others are already showing signs of the limited autonomy - doesn't appear to be connected to the size of the lot, either, or I would blame it on large lot lag, but one of the families that is affected is two Sims living in a very small two bedroom starter home, they only have a few Fun items on the lot and they won't even use those most of the time. This particular lot also doesn't have any wall speakers and they've never upgraded anything in the house so I don't think it's connected to that. .

Very disappointing, I truly hope the developers are looking into a solution.

Edited to add - one of the weirdest things about this bug is that when you send the affected Sims to a community lot or another Sim's home, their autonomy works just fine and they move around and fill all their needs like you would expect them to. The bug is only present when they are on their home lot. And it's not tied to one specific lot because half of the families in my neighborhood are having this problem.

I am pinning my hopes on a Halloween update because they said the trick or treat stuff would be time limited.

A user at the Sims 4 forums is testing removing computers.

    and here: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/comment/14205503/#Comment_14205503

"Okay, initial findings were decent. Deleting the computers released two of my stuck sims. I still have 1 that is glitched and doesn't move. I deleted the beds and there was no change in that final glitched Sim. I'll keep testing and see if deleting something else might help."

"UPDATE: Removing the radios and TV's did nothing. Removed all the appliances (fridge, stove, microwave, tea machine, coffee machine), did nothing. Removing the video game machine released a stuck sim. HOWEVER, one of the unstuck Sims went to work and came back glitched. Sigh. This seems bigger than just this last update. Bulldozed the entire lot out of desperation and it released my Sims. It seems that there is some item in my house that is glitched.  "

"UPDATE 2: Locking the stuck sim outside starts the autonomy up for the Sim. Unlocking the door makes them glitched again. I tried replacing the doors with arches, didn't work. It is apparently an item in the house.  "

I tried that, and tried removing the beds, and also moving my sims to a new lot. No luck, and it seems to have actually gotten worse! Grrr....
  • So last week I started playing the Sims 4 again, fresh install on a new computer, bought the Get to Work expansion because it looked really cool. Everything seemed to be working fine (except I noticed that sometimes I'd have to click the auto-solve for various needs several times before it would queue an action) until just recently, when I noticed that whenever I went to work with my scientist, when she got home at like 7pm the daughter (a child) was standing outside like she had gotten home from school and literally hadn't moved from that spot in four sim hours?! Not too long after that, I started noticing hang-ups with my sims between when I would tell them to do something and them actually doing it. More and more I'm finding my sims standing around for hours doing nothing! This is nothing like how the game played right after it came out. I really hope the devs fix it soon, because I poured a lot of money into expansions and add-ons this weekend thinking it would be pretty sweet to have a bunch of stuff to mess around with, and now it's not functioning properly!

    More detail from the Officials:

    http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/comment/14209974/#Comment_14209974

"Hi rosemow. I just tried it. It seems to improve the situation a bit better, however it is not perfect. I found out that after selling the computers, my two "zombie" sims have a bit of their autonomy back but they will only dance and clean dirty dishes on their own free will. One of them had pretty low energy and he still autonomously decided to dance instead of sleep."

That's DeKay - they're good with a close eye on things. If you want someone to test something for you, try them.

Yeah, it sucks. I've tried all the suggestions. I don't want to buy any more packs until it is fixed, because I can't even play like this.
