- LisaLadybirD825 years agoNew Ace@crinrict As per initial post, no Eco.
Not off-grid and 2 households are in Newcrest & Oasis Springs.
So, base game worlds. Thanks, I actually managed to fix this in the end. I noticed it worked fine when I removed my save files and started fresh, so I deleted all of the cache files including the spotlight en-is and localthumbscache.package files, put the latest save file that I wanted to play back in and it seemed to fix it!
Worlds? Tried in Newcrest
Eco? Yes I have Eco
Off-grid? No
what i mentioned, when i wash my sims clothes in the tub (off the grid) i have to repeat it two or three times (which is a huge amount of time) until they become clean. sometimes before i hang them to dry, the description says clean and as soon as they hang on the line they are markerd as 'used' again... is this normal?
- Which worlds are you trying?
Oasis Springs - Pebble Burrow currently. Have only made 2 family's for this world, world started late May.
- Do you have Eco?
Yes
- Do you play off-grid?
No
The problem started for me on June 8th. I started this world late May in Newcrest - Beech Byway with CC. Did not notice if the problem was there as I never bought any laundry stuff with this family.
When Eco launched I then started a new family in the same world with the same CC on June 4th in Oasis Springs - Pebble Burrow, which I did buy a Washer and Dryer as part of building the house on day 1. It was usable, I even did all the upgrades. Then the issue showed up on June 8th; I have No Lot Perks, but had 4 Neighborhood NAPs - Clean Energy Production, Free Love, Support the Performing Arts, and Tech Support. I had voted out Sharing is Caring the day before. The issue continued into June 9th, in which I then just deleted the whole laundry system I had going in the house and then bought them again after the June 10th update. The problem again started late yesterday in a new world with NO CC
As to the issue -
Was doing laundry off and on throughout the game play with no problem, and it does seem to take time to duplicate.
After a while, "Wash Laundry" and "Dry Laundry" disappeared from the Washer and Dryer.
Took the laundry from the hamper, as it was full, and put it into the Washer. Washer then only had 2 options "Move to Dryer" and "Put down" Taking the laundry out of the Washer and place on the floor, it said "Clean and Dry" but wouldn't let me put away... which is then taken back to the hamper and then into the Washer. Same 2 options, so tried "Move to Dryer" which now says "Used and Dry" which doesn't do any good as putting it on the floor then makes a wet pile as it now says "Used and Wet" and the Washer still only has 2 options... "Move to Dryer" and "Put down" ... Dryer only has "Put down"
After deleting the Washer and Dryer on June 9th.. I updated the game on June 10th, re-bought the Washer and Dryer which were then working again. With them working, was hoping it was patched out and also hoping maybe it is a CC conflict.... SO!! I then started a new world also on June 10th without CC, Brindleton Bay - Tail's End, which again the Washer and Dryer were working until late June 11th. The same exact problem eventually came up, I have also once again deleted the Washer and Dryer so laundry doesn't build up.- Which worlds are you trying?
Brindleton Bay

Yes

I'm having the same issue as TabbyKitty, I removed all CC to try as well, and it still won't work. I've reinstalled the game, and sold my w/d / all hampers associated, and fully upgraded new ones. It will temporarily work again, then stop working. It's driving me crazy. I'm going to have to delete the washer and dryer simply because now all 3 hampers are full again, and the washer is full, and there are just clothes all around my house. It's so frustrating ☹️
- Which worlds are you trying?
Brindleton Bay, world started this month. On both washer and dryer, the only option was to unload and put down. Deleting and replacing the washer & dryer seems to be a temporary fix. It worked for me, at least.

This was the one stuff pack that I was OVERLY excited about (Who'd have thought one can get so excited over washing dirty clothes!?)
And it's not useable now.....
I am erked....😬 - @crinrict This has been happening to me too. I don't have Eco, I'm playing in Willow Creek, and I don't play off-grid. Hope this gets fixed soon! Thanks!
I am having the same problem... cannot dry clothes. The dryer says they are ready to put away but once the Sims take them they are still wet. The only option available is t odrop them on the floor or get them to a hamp. Only solution is to go in Build mode, destroy the current dryer and buy/upgrade a new one.
This happened to me multiple times in different households, with all DLCs available. Households in SM, Sulani and Brindleton. In all cases, washer and dryer are one on top of the other, different colors. In all cases the dryer had the lint upgrade, but was not necessarily fully upgraded. Hard to replicate tho.
- @LisaLadybirD82 same bug on the xbox

Im actually getting no option to put the clothes in the machine. It says that the machine is not available when it’s clearly empty:

This may well be the other laundry bug....
Sell your machine, re-buy and see if it fixes the problem for now.

I'm not having the issue with the wash/dry items working at all, but I'm seeing the same thing Nassilia91 mentioned. I was working on a player made challenge, where you "may" place a washtub and clothesline on your lot. I'm seeing laundry becoming "used" while still drying on the line. So, as she asked... Is this normal? Because rather than an improvement to the lot, giving your sims the fresh laundry buffs, it's an extra, pointless chore, one you don't even have to do if you get rid of the items.

Ok, so what I'm seeing IS a bug? I didn't even know if I was seeing intended gameplay-- My granny sim seemed to be able to make nice, fresh laundry, but after she "died off" from a challenge event, the younger sim who tried to do laundry had it become used on the clothesline.

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Sometimes
What is your current game version number? 1.65.70.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them
Steps: Wash clothes in either a washing machine or washtub, then put on a clothesline to dry
What happens when the bug occurs? While still drying, the clothes go from "Clean" to "Used"
What do you expect to see? Clothes to remain "Clean" until worn, or at least something happening to explain why they got dirty
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? I don't know
If yes, please describe the patch or change you made.I haven't used laundry much at all, but after the eco expansion one of my Evergreen Harbor households started using a washing machine and clothesline. Sometimes the clothes end up clean and dry they way they should, other times they become "Used" while still drying. Separate save, in an Oasis Spring household, I had a washtub and clothesline. An Elder sim seemed to make nice clean (or Pristine) laundry, but a younger one seemed to have the laundry become Used while drying. That may have been coincidence though, the Elder wasn't around long before an event in the challenge I was playing dictated that the Elder be removed.
The Eco Footprint in both neighborhoods was Neutral. I wouldn't be surprised if an Industrial footprint made laundry dirty, but that wasn't the case. The Evergreen Harbor lot had a Green footprint, the Oasis Springs lot was probably Neutral.
I've been having this issue as well.

If yes, please describe the patch or change you made. I am having the same issues with the washing machine. I am using one of the base worlds. I use Newcrest. I have 3 households, two have the washing machines. I add a machine and after a few loads, the wash laundry option is missing when you click on it after adding dirty laundry to it. I sell it and then add a new one, and it works for a little while. It also had issues with moving laundry to a dryer, so I added a clothesline, upgrading it to steel lines. This seems to work fine every time. This is definitely a bug, a very annoying one. I am pretty sure I have eco. If there is an update or patch, I install it. I am usually playing off-line, but not off the electric grid in the game.
- @EmeraldLaura Whenever i wash my clothes in the washer it only will wash if my maid did the laundry. Idk why. whenever i tried doing it myself i would put the clothes in the washer and they would instantly by pristine, and then i’d put them in the dryer and they’re be instantly dry, yet i could never put them away or rewash.
- @EmeraldLaura There’s a way to fix it without deleting files, just hover over your washer when it has its clothes inside , then press X and O at the same time (PS4) or Shift Up Arrow (Pc) and press Break Washer DEBUG, this will break it so that you can repair or replace as you choose, and then your laundry shouldn’t bug out anymoee
