Re: [FIXED] [PC] Stop and go Lags/freezes since Patch 1.88 (Pronouns)

I have recently gotten back into playing the Sims 4 on my old Hp laptop. I have had slight issues with it running in the past, but nothing like this. I played for quite awhile 2-3 days ago and it was working fine on Low-Medium graphics which is usual for me on my laptop. Now it has been incredibly slow and lagging, it will load the image for a few seconds and then the entire screen will freeze (sometimes with audio playing in the back as if the game isn’t frozen but the screen is) for about 30+ seconds. I can sometimes move my mouse but buttons don’t highlight, I cannot rotate the camera or zoom in/out, pop ups in game take forever, etc.

I tried uninstalling and downloading my game and packs again (I only own a handful of packs and use no mods or cc), but the problem is still happening. Please give me any recommendations or troubleshooting tricks as I am desperate!!

@jimblejamm It looks like a lot of people are having issues with the game freezing. I am as well. Im hoping EA will fix the issues soon.

@jimblejamm I know. I was about to give up until I found out about this community. I think I messed my laptop up trying to find out the issue haha.

@jimblejamm The 2 biggest reasons for sudden lag is not enough free space on the system device or background processes running using large amounts of system resources (cpu usage, disk usage, or network usage). Open task manager and see if a process isn't hoggng the system. .

  • I believe it's the new update. I did it last night and my game was working fine the days before, but after last night my game has been severely lagging. I even got rid of my mods to see if they were causing the problem. Turns out, they weren't.

Me too. I even uninstalled like 3 times. I’ve done everything.

  • I also believe it's because of the update. Before the update I was playing the Sims and there wasn't any issue, no lagging no freezing. I tried to play the game today and it's still the same 😭 I hope they solve this issue soon!
