I have the same exact issue. I'm a console player[PS4] and didn't have this issue before the update. 

When I start new game. It works. When I save new game. It works. Just the previous save files before the update that stops working and crashes the game. It's almost as if the previous saves are corrupted.

Playing new game, about 10 or 15 mins in and while in the gallery, the text glitches out and you can't switch tabs or click on anything. All you can do is back out of the gallery. So, the faulty update does run deeper than just the save file issue.
