Re: [FIXED] [S] Can't give gifts to other sims with certain items in the inventory

I have the same bug. What fixed it for me was removing a grand meal my sim cooked from her inventory.

I had five children in scouts, three of them could donate gifts to charity, which is required for the scout badge, two couldn't because the dialog picker wouldn't appear for them, neither on the computer or on the mailbox. I tried a few times with both sim children. Afterwards I looked and I had got multiple LEs from my many attempts.

I then decided to see if removing things from their inventory would help and I found that when I took the prepared food that was in their inventory out of their inventory, the dialog picker would appear. The food wasn't spoiled as it had been prepared by their mother who has the fresh chef trait.

This is since the update, playing with my mod folder out, all packs but Modern Menswear, game version PC 1.105.332.1020, game repair/clear cache done after each update and after adding the pack (localthumbcache deleted after each play session).

Screenshot of one of the LE's I got:

    Thanks and regards,

I was also having an issue giving friendly gifts to other sims. After reading that it seems to be linked to food in the sim's inventory, I'm also wondering if that's the cause of something else I've seen in the game. My sim lives in Henford and has a rabbit stump on her property - she's friends with multiple rabbits. Usually when a sim gifts something to a rabbit, the rabbit gets a thumbs up, thumbs down, or heart thought bubble in response. However, with most of her gifts (even the ones they like or love) the rabbits are responding with the thought bubble of a stinky present and shaking their head in disgust. I'll have to try emptying out her inventory of food and see what happens.

It happened again. I am looking for the culprit. Defiantly a bug that EA should fix.

This time nectar bottles. Lots of other bugs.

  • Reported fixed in today's patch.

@Redphun and anyone else posting recently-- do you still experience the bug with the latest patch?

I have tested a few gift giving interactions with either prepared meals or paintings in my sim's inventory and sometimes both. I was able to get the picker to come up for the following things I tested:

    - donate gift to Scout charity (Seasons)

    - give romantic gift

    - give gift (painting) to birds (CoL)

This was after the March 6, 2024 e-patch. I play on Windows 10 through the EA app, my game version is PC: 1.105.345.1020, my mods folder is out, localthumbcache deleted and did a game repair after updating. I have all packs except Modern Menswear. I had experienced an issue with doing scout donations with prepared food in my inventory prior to the update (and also couldn't submit a pie for the Finchwick Fair, but that's not going on so I can't test that).

    Best regards,
    Jennifer

    • Fixed an issue with object picker UI menus that - when certain conditions were met - would interfere with Sims’ ability to run various “Give” interactions (interactions where objects would be given to other Sims).

    Fixed in Patch 1.105.345/1.89

Please create a new thread if you're still experiencing this issue,
