After prompted to restart the game to install new content, trying to save the game results in a pop-up saying, "The game failed to save. Error Code: 507:6b866:3efd0bcf" I tried saving through Save, Save as, and Save and Exit, but all threw the same error.

So this just happened to me. Could not save, save as, etc. Same error code as the OP. Turns out, I had just started a group cooking situation and it prevented me from saving. So I un-paused the game, let my sims finish cooking, and I could save again. Last Exception:
Yes, I do have a few mods. Normally, I'll remove the mods first and test before reporting here but since the OP got this error without mods...
Also, I would have lost progress if I took the mods out, because I couldn't save. The last exception mentioned group cooking, so that's how I got the idea to let them finish cooking; and it worked.

What happens when the bug occurs? The group doesn't cook; Sims get stuck and then I can't save even if I disband the group or remove it from the action queue.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see Sims cook in a group and still be able to save the game like I've been able to do for years up until today.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes, but I had mods turned off. I even completely removed them from the mods folder and repaired the game and still couldn't save.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? I recently installed Dine Out (also super buggy), Industrial Loft, Perfect Patio & Modern Luxe. Game is also set to auto-update.
I'm having this issue after trying to do group cooking. However, my sims no longer have that in their action queue but are still in a group and it won't let me save. I removed all mods from the Mods folder and turned it off in Game Options and still can't save. So this happens with and without mods, which tells me it's related to grouping, and 2 years later is still an unresolved bug.

I'm having this issue, but it's not related to group cooking. My single sim was Serving Breakfast, Fruit Salad and the error occurred. This is the first time I've had this error code. However, the same trick worked as other posters said. Once she was finished cooking, I was able to save the game.
