[ROM] Weak Bloodline Sim is not a proper spellcaster but can't become one

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
What is your current game version number? 1.97.62.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansions except for Island Living and Snowy Escape. All game packs except for Parenthood, Wedding Stories and Dine Out. Stuff packs: Cool Kitchen, Romatic Garden, Tiny Living, Laundry Day, Vintage Glamour. Kits: Basement Treasures, Bathroom Clutter, Everyday Clutter, Desert Luxe, Blooming Rooms, Industrial Loft, Country Kitchen, Bust the Dust.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Find a sim with the weak bloodline trait who is not a spellcaster.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sim has 'weak bloodline' trait, and a glimmerstone, but is not in fact a spellcaster. The Sims 4 acts as though he is; he cannot ask how to do magic from Sages, but also cannot learn spells and has no spellcaster trait tree. The sim is a townie.
What do you expect to see? A sim with a weak bloodline able to interact properly with Sages and has access to the spellcaster trait tree.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I've literally never seen this before, but it's a bit awkward because I can't make him not a spellcaster, and I can't make him one in game without cheats.

Edit By Crinrict: Added Tag to Title, please add pack tags yourself. Thank you.

  • @33Rapture I’ve also got this bug but I figured it was like the Dormant Wolf trait where you need to do something to activate their abilities… guess not ☹️
  • I figured it was intentional. I had a spellcaster-vampire couple with the spellcaster having an ancient bloodline trait. All four of his children had ancient bloodline (3 of the 4 were vampires). It makes sense that it would get passed down (at least to me, idk). If a sim with a bloodline marries a sim with no bloodline and is not a spellcaster (and you continue doing this for generations), the bloodline weakens (since you aren't getting that spellcaster blood mixed in). It could be a bug, but I always thought it was intentional.

  • The sim was a townie and their parents on the family tree are dead so as far as I know I can't tell.

@33Rapture Are you using MCCC usually ? Can you check which occult hidden traits the Sim has ?

I'm not an occult fan so I don't really play spellcasters but it sounds wrong that you can't even become one if you choose to be one and that he has a glimmerstone so it doesn't sound right to me. I mean there should be a way to activate him as a spellcaster if it was a dormant trait like for werewolves.

  • Pretty sure it’s intentional my current save file I have a couple a spell faster and werewolf and they have 2 kids. One is a werewolf and the weak bloodline trait and the other has the weak bloodline trait but I’m pretty sure she is not a spell caster and has no innate magic abilities while we’re sister got the werewolf gene

I agree that this is by design. Werewolves, and other occult Sims, cannot become spellcasters because the game is not designed to support hybrids. That doesn't prevent them from inheriting a magical bloodline, though, or the Glimmerstone that comes with it. They can even pass the bloodline on to their own descendants if it's strong enough.

Most occult Sims can be "cured," if you want, and that should allow them to become spellcasters.
