Sims won't stop talking

I'm not sure if this a bug or just something that I find annoying. I'll have my sims socialize and then I'll have them go do something else.. whether it's gardening, showering.. ect. and I'll want them to finish out the last social interaction, like say I want them to do a mischeif interaction to improve that slightly... but then they just keep "chatting" after that and wont do their next task so I have to cancel out the social interaction thing. Again, I'm not sure if this is a bug or if this is how it's supposed to be and I just find it annoying. I just wish they'd do the social interactions I told them to do and then move onto the other things I told them to do lol.
