Wrong relationship status - engaged but still acquaintances

Issue


I got my sims to fall in love, move in together, and get engaged. The female sim's relationship bar for the male sim is fine, but the male sim's relationship bar for the female sim still shows "acquaintances".  The green bar is full.  The pink bar is full.  They're engaged and living together. But the little smiley face symbol is wrong and says acquaintances.  This is sometimes irritating because what should be romantic interactions sometimes turn into "very awkward encounter". 

Steps you took for Issue to occur

Not sure exactly when it occurred. Went on 3 dates, moved in, went on a date, got engaged. 

  

Where does the bug occur ?

Specific save game.  Building relationships take so long I don't have time to make another one to test it. 

Mods/CC

I have never had any mods or custom content.

Occurring since

Origin update about a week ago?  There was another update when I turned the game on today but it didn't fix the issue.

    There was a bug where relationships were getting stuck but it was fixed so do you if they were stuck before the latest patch or if this occurred afterwards ? You said it started with the Origin update but also that it took a long time to build it up so maybe the Sim was stuck on acquaintance before ?

    Best thing to try would be to destroy the relationship with a cheat and then cheat it back up.

    I just recently started playing in the last few weeks due to computer problems. Origin updates the game automatically, so if a patch fixed it, there shouldn't be a problem. I tried the relationship cheats but none of them are working. Yes, I followed the exact instructions. Most of the cheats I've tried work, but not those! At least, not on that relationship.
