A more agnostic, Will-Wright-era modding system
Modding is one of the things that makes The Sims so amazing. However, it would be much, much better if the capabilities were much more expansive like they were during Will Wright's rule.
Right now, resources in mods need to be in proprietary format in order to work in the game. I'd like to see an easier way of doing this. For instance, you could leverage XML files to create custom radio stations/TV channels.
Modeling should also have an easier flow. Support for native formats (obj, fbx, dae, etc.) would be nice. Custom water textures were also a great addition.
Should The Sims 5 release, it NEEDS the following:
-Sims 3 style Open World
-Create A Style
-Create A World
-Sims 4 mod Scripting
-Body Shop tool
Overall, the curve of learning and workflow should be easier than it is now.
