My idea for this thread is to have a dedicated space to document what is happening in my game surrounding my favorite sim family - the Holdens! It’s like a hub for all things Holden family related, the “Holden Hub” if you will. They are a wholesome, small, close-knit family, but like all families they face their own challenges and not everything is what it seems. For those of you who are completely new to this family, I plan to provide a brief introduction and some background information about each family member very soon. Once I am through sharing some background information, I will start to post my official family updates!
Holden Update 07 Spring | Week 2 - Part I: When Happiness Turns to Hopelessness * TW: Infidelity; Depression; Codependency * Highlights Monday - It’s just another day of the week for the Holdens. Dallas went over to the neighbor's house. She and Sydney spent all day outside and gossiped about who was taking who to the Love Day dance. Dallas was a little worried she wouldn't get asked as she didn't have a "date" yet. She was hoping Boston would ask her, but he doesn't even seem interested in the dance. Keaton stayed home to play in a MySims Racing game tournament with his friends Blake, Akiro and Pierce. To his surprise, he won! Tuesday - Oh boy do I have some gossip for you! Remember that girl Wade bought a drink for a week or so ago? Well, Dina was back and she brought all the drama to this wholesome family's life! After finishing dinner with his family, Wade went out with the boys to his old university hangout spot, the Blue Horse Pub. He played way too many games of juice pong because he got so juiced he couldn’t even see straight.

All the guys were either dancing or playing pub games as Dina walked in. She caught Wade’s eye right away, and it didn’t take long until he gave into temptation. I mean, he was so juiced, and they don't call her Caliente for nothing! Wade felt a little guilty all things said and done, but he knew the motto - whatever happens at guy's night, stays at guy's night. He wouldn't rat out one of his friends, so he figured they would do the same for him. Plus, it was just one night of bad decisions, one after the other. Wednesday - It’s Mother’s Day! Darla woke up to a breakfast in bed made by the kids before they headed off to school. While everyone was at work and school, Darla called her best friends and wished them a happy Mother’s Day, did a yoga routine, and got ready for her Mother’s Day dinner. After Wade got home, he informed the family that they were going to the Goth Gardens for a special Mother’s Day dinner. He was feeling overwhelmingly guilty from his infidelity the night before, so he put in a little extra effort to give Darla the best Mother's Day. Thursday - It’s the day before Love Day, and Darla woke up feeling like she was on top of the world. With a wonderful Mother’s Day behind her and her favorite holiday ahead of her, nothing could bring her down! Everyone headed off to school and work, so Darla visited her best friend, Elena, to catch up on how her Mother’s Day went. Once she got to Elena’s, she immediately was greeted by a very regretful look on Elena’s face. Elena told Darla that she was snooping through her husband’s phone and found some photos from Tuesday night when all the guys got together at the pub. She saw Wade in the background with his arm around a young, blonde girl and it looked a little too cozy to be a strictly platonic exchange. https://i.imgur.com/C6lESNY.png
Darla was devastated by this news, asking Elena if she was sure about what she saw. Darla didn't even realize it, but she started making up excuses for his behavior. She told Elena that maybe he was going through a lot of stress and got too juiced, and maybe he didn't even know what he was doing? On a brighter note, Dallas and Keaton attended the Love Day dance later that evening. They spent the night with their friends dancing, telling jokes, and singing karaoke. Boston ended up asking Dallas to go with him earlier that day, while Keaton waited until he was at the school to ask the prettiest girl in the room to dance with him. Meanwhile, once the kids were out of the house, Darla confronted Wade about the gossip she heard from Elena. Wade acted like he didn’t even know what she was talking about, and that no women were even at the pub that night. Once he realized he was in a lose-lose situation, he decided to come clean to Darla. After all, everyone makes mistakes. He pleaded to Darla to give him another chance to redeem himself. It was just one mistake after years of a deeply meaningful commitment to one another. Did that time count for anything? He didn't want to throw it all away over a (big) mistake. After he made his plea, he started to sob. He couldn't hold all the tears in anymore. He was frustrated, embarrassed, and completely ashamed of himself. Why did he do this to her? His confession broke Darla. Her mind flashed back to when she first met Wade. He lit up the room when he walked into that bookstore on the Britechester campus, and he walked right up to Darla asking “So culinary arts, huh? Well I guess dinner is on me, I know the chef.” He put an instant smile on her face, which was pretty rare at the time as she had just lost her parents two weeks before going off to Britechester. The person who lit a fire of warmth and happiness in her just took it all away with one sentence. The one who helped her out of her depressed state, the one she had relied on for her happiness all this time, was now causing her to feel hopeless about this relationship. https://i.imgur.com/ohtjA8k.png

Weekend Highlights Friday - Love Day has finally arrived, and Darla woke up feeling heartbroken. After a long night of crying, she carefully decided that she would give Wade another chance despite her devastation. She didn’t want the whole family to pay the toll for Wade’s bad choices. She looked herself in the mirror, put a fake smile on her face, and told herself she was going to get through this.
Wade had some extravagant Love Day plans for him and Darla. He called his mother, Mae, to come over and babysit the kids over the weekend so he could take Darla on a trip to an all-inclusive resort in Tartosa - the Canopy Villa Resort & Spa. Darla still felt extremely betrayed, and the last thing she wanted to do was go on a weekend getaway with Wade, but the tickets for this trip cost thousands of simoleons. The trip was non-refundable, so she may as well go and enjoy herself even if she does her own thing the entire trip.
Once they arrived in Tartosa, Wade took Darla to a world-famous nectary, the Nectar Hill Vineyards, for a nectar tasting. Love must have filled the air in Tartosa, because Darla thoroughly enjoyed their conversation while drinking nectar, and she began to let her feelings of betrayal fade away. https://i.imgur.com/gmEe34D.png
Before she knew it, they were slow dancing to her favorite song, Zumbray. Wade was being so romantic, and fond memories of their relationship started to flow back into her mind as they gazed into each other’s eyes. Though Darla knew that this relationship couldn’t be fixed in one night, Wade was clearly trying really hard to give her the best Love Day he could, and she appreciated his efforts. https://i.imgur.com/0C9TqEK.png
The couple ended their night back at resort. They stayed in a corner suite that gave them the most perfect view of the ocean. The couple gazed up at the stars with a glass of nectar in their hands, and they felt like they were in a Tartosan paradise! https://i.imgur.com/6Z4l8rL.png
Saturday - As the Tartosan trip continued, Darla started off her morning with a hot stone massage that Wade booked for her. He even requested that they shower the area with rose petals and play some romantic music for her to enjoy while she gets pampered. The resort offered a poolside brunch, so Darla and Wade made a point to attend it. They enjoyed their meals and drinks while they had a long conversation about what changes needed to take place in the relationship for Wade to earn Darla’s trust back. The sun was starting to set, and Rhi Russo was playing live music at the Sun Deck stage. Wade bought a table right in the front row so he and Darla could enjoy some beachy drinks and watch Rhi play her most well known hits. Wade even managed to request that Rhi do a cover of Zumbray. Once Darla heard the song start, tears filled up her eyes. She knew it was probably just the Tartosan love vibes, but she felt so overwhelmingly happy to be there with Wade. Sunday - Darla was really missing the kids, so she decided they were going to end their trip early. Wade was able to book an earlier flight, and before they knew it they were in the air flying back home to Newcrest. After the parents got back from their romantic getaway, they jumped right back into family mode. They all went to the Desert Bloom park in Oasis Springs to enjoy some new scenery and warm weather! She ran into Elena at the park and explained to her that she was giving Wade another chance. She went on and on about the past couple of days, telling Elena all of the memories they made while they were in Tartosa. Holden Update 09 Summer | Week 1 - Part I: Sweet Summer Rays Highlights Monday - Grandparent’s Day has arrived, and it was time to go to Strangerville to visit the grandparents! Dallas and Keaton were so excited to go and see the new chickens that Mae recently told Darla about, swim in the pool, and of course give the grandparents their gifts!
Immediately once they arrived in Strangerville, the kids changed into their swimsuits anticipating using the pool. As they were heading into the side yard, they were greeted by the chickens! They scattered feed around the coop to lure them out. Bonnie and Clyde were reluctant to approach the kids, but they ended up really loving the attention! https://i.imgur.com/DQw1c99.png

After everyone got to feed the chickens, Wade had arrived from work. He had an assignment in Strangerville, so he was able to quickly pop over once he was released to go home. He joined everyone at the pool and quickly realized that his and Darla’s relationship was a topic of conversation. Near the end of the visit, the kids got to give their gifts to the grandparents. Dallas gave Mae a pair of knitted socks. They are not the most elaborate gift Mae has received, but they were made with love! Keaton gave Waylon a book that he “bought” that teaches the reader all about archeology. Tuesday - Not much happened during the day, so the family decided to go out to Desert Bloom Park to grill up some dinner and throw an impromptu fiesta. Wednesday - It was the day of the Sol Festival which is a music festival that takes place every first week of summer. The kids begged their parents to take them because they heard all of their friends were going. Wade and Darla agreed to take them as a reward for their good grades - well Dallas’ grades were excellent (straight A’s as always), and Keaton brought his grades up from a D to a B which was pretty remarkable for him. Once they got there, Wade and Darla quickly realized that though their parents let their children skip school to attend the Sol Festival, they did not call into work and schedule time off to go along with their children…so they became the chaperones of the event. https://i.imgur.com/4RyYiHx.png The kids managed to have a great time dancing to the music, ordering poke bowls, and skating on the roller rink!
Thursday - It was the last day of school before the kids were out for the summer, and they went on a field trip to the Curious Science & Space Museum. While she was experimenting with chemicals, something else caught Keaton’s eye. He saw a real live bubalus! There was a sign that stated “observation only,” but Keaton read that as more of a suggestion than a rule. The kids were delighted with their field trip, but they were so excited for summer break to start. The next week is planned to be jam packed full of fun family-friendly activities. Next stop, Sulani!
Weekend Highlights Friday - Time for summer vacation! The Holdens have been planning a trip to Sulani for their summer vacation. Sulani is really special to Wade and Darla because their honeymoon was spent in Sulani, and they made the best memories there! Once they landed in Sulani, they were all pretty excited to go to the famous beach in Ohan’ali Town called Sunlit Tides Beach. Saturday - Day two of the vacation was full of family activities. First, the Holdens went to Mua Pel’am to volunteer and participate in the early morning beach clean up. It's really important to Wade and Darla to teach their kids about giving back not only to other sims, but to the environment as well. While sifting through all of the garbage on the beach (gross!), both Keaton and Dallas found the eyes of Sulani. The Holdens got really lucky and their assigned spot was right next to a beautiful waterfall. The family couldn’t resist playing in the water and trying to catch some frogs! Plus, who said volunteering had to be all serious and no fun? https://i.imgur.com/EmHF9Aw.png
After the beaches were all cleaned up, the family signed up for a snorkeling adventure. Everyone went on a snorkel tour, but Keaton decided to go astray and chose not to follow the leader during the tour. Sure, he's all brave now, but would he be so brave and go off alone like that if he saw a suspicious fin?! Wade and Darla decided they would give scuba diving a try too while they were there since they passed their advanced level courses and got the “OK” to venture down to the bottom of the sea! https://i.imgur.com/E1kFfir.png
After snorkeling and scuba diving, the fam took it easy. Wade took Keaton fishing off the coast where they stayed until the sun set. They actually caught a bunch of rare fish that Wade mounted for souvenirs from the trip. https://i.imgur.com/h3RMBu9.png

Sunday - The Holdens flew back home to Newcrest, and it was New Skill Day! Each family member helped out with the chores to clean the house and get ready for the upcoming week. Everyone participated in New Skill Day by leveling up their skills which was perfect timing as the Holdens received a welcome packet for Copperdale High in the mail (Dallas' birthday is on the last day of summer). Dallas’ eyes lit up when she saw the picture of the cheerleading squad, and that’s when she decided she was going to try out for the cheerleading team. Holden Update 11 Summer | Week 2 - Part I: What Time Is It? Summertime! Highlights Monday - After a relaxing Sunday, the Holdens were ready to start a new week. Tuesday - Father’s Day has arrived! Every year for father’s day, the family goes up to Granite Falls to celebrate. Wade is an outdoorsy sim, and he loves Granite Falls because it’s the best place to camp out and enjoy all that nature has to offer. This year, they went to the Little Jackalope Camp. They swam in the lake, had water balloon fights, and played soccer until the night fell. Once it got dark, they went back to the firepit to tell campfire stories. Wednesday - Once the Holden fam got home from Granite Falls, Darla discovered that Nemo got sick while they were away. She took him to the vet and found out it was just fleas! She’s not sure how he got them since he’s an indoor cat. Anyway, she went back home with a healthy flea-less cat! After they got back home, Wade went back to work as he was watching the kids, and Darla took the kids to the Bathe de Rill to take a dip in the pool during the day. https://i.imgur.com/4IgEOAx.png

Wade got her some cute pink earbuds so she could listen to her music without annoying the rest of her family. He learned his lesson from the time he told her to turn down her music and she turned it to full volume! What would fix that? Earbuds. Darla got Dallas a Heart of Sulani necklace, which was so special since Darla owned one just like it. Highlights Monday - It’s back to school season in the Holden house! Dallas will be attending Copperdale High with her sights set on landing a spot on the Copperdale Cheer Squad, acing her exams - and of course - surviving her freshman term! The morning was off to a slow start as Dallas decided to get in those extra 10 minutes of beauty sleep. Dallas managed to get to school just in time to find her locker. As she was closing her locker door, she felt a tap on her shoulder..it was River! Ahh, River Cowley. Boy oh boy, he really grew up during the summer. River came over to ask Dallas which class she was in. Turns out they both got assigned to class one! They talked for a couple more minutes, and Dallas could feel her face starting to blush. Her first class of the day was math, ugh. Dallas has never been fond of math, but for some odd reason she was smiling during the entire class. She looked as happy as a clam! Now I wonder what, or who, could have caused that? Then it was lunch time, finally! Dallas went to the cafeteria and ordered herself the meatloaf #noregrets .. well actually, on second thought, she totally regretted it. Don’t ever be fooled, mystery meat is a real thing. The last class of the day was science. Dallas didn’t have too much interest in the topic, but luckily the teacher spent more time telling Boston to stop talking to Sydney instead of actually teaching the class material. Did Dallas learn a lot? Nope, but she was pretty entertained. After school was out, Dallas went straight home to practice her cheer routine to prep for her cheer tryouts which were being held the next day after school. She’s been practicing the whole summer, but she was desperate for a spot! Her friend, Zuri, locked down her spot on the squad early during pre-season tryouts. That lucky girl! Tuesday - Today is the day, it’s the day of the cheer tryouts. Dallas woke up so nervous, but she knew she was going to nail her routine. Dallas got to school with about ten minutes to spare, so she stopped at her locker to quickly skim the assigned reading she forgot to do last night. Her first class of the day was social studies, which is one of her favorite subjects! She sat down in the first row and felt her phone buzz. Dallas picked it up and checked Social Bunny. She got a DM from Zuri saying “Sit by me @ lunch.” Dallas reacted with a smiling freezer bunny, and put her phone away so she wouldn’t get in trouble with the teacher. https://i.imgur.com/xHDp0mK.png
Time for lunch! After the mystery meat catastrophe yesterday, Dallas brought a sandwich from home to eat. Yum, veggies and hummus! The cheer tryouts were held out on the football field behind the high school. She left the field knowing that she totally nailed her tryout! She was loud, clear and didn't miss a beat! Once she got home, she got a call from Zuri letting her know that she’ll need to block out her Friday evenings in her calendar because SHE MADE THE SQUAD! She waited a couple of seconds and then told Dallas it was her turn to wash the dishes from dinner while she stepped into the laundry room. “I know, I know, I’ll do it in a minute” Dallas said. Wednesday - The first Wednesday of every fall is National Grilled Cheese Day in my game. All sims are encouraged to eat and talk about grilled cheese with another sim. Keaton woke up in an annoying mood and started singing a song to Dallas during breakfast. This wouldn’t normally bother Dallas, but for some reason when a song’s only lyrics are “I love grilled cheese, you love grilled cheese” the song can get repetitive and really annoying very quickly. https://i.imgur.com/C969ehS.png
At school, Dallas stopped at her locker before class started. Literally everyone was on their phones, and there was a weird energy surrounding her. It's almost as if she could feel people staring at her. Suddenly, River walked over to her, hugged her, and said “Hey, how are you holding up? Don’t worry, nobody believes what Hallway Hearsay says.” “What?” Dallas asked. “Of course I’m okay, what are you talking about?” River glanced at his phone and shrugged. “Oh, uhm, nevermind. The bell rang, Dallas and River walked into class and took their seats. Dallas pulled out her phone and opened up Social Bunny. A post read “Hallway Hearsay: Dallas Holden bribed her way onto the Copperdale Cheer Squad!” She was so mortified. So many questions filled her mind. Who is Hallway Hearsay? Why do they want to embarrass her? She knows she didn’t bribe anyone. She got her spot fair and square, right?! Dallas has never experienced a widespread rumor like this before. The lunch bell rang, and Zuri stopped Dallas in the hallway. Zuri comforted Dallas and told her she'd save an extra seat at lunch. No cheerleader will ever have to go through the rumor blues alone. Dallas got her lunch, took a seat, and started to eat her fried chicken sliders. River saw her sitting all alone and immediately walked in her direction. He’s a true knight in shining armor saving the princess from the utter embarrassment of eating lunch completely by oneself. “Is this seat taken?” he asked. Congratulations!” expressed River. The bell rang again, and they all got up and went back to class. Dallas found herself having trouble concentrating during the lecture. Her mind would start daydreaming...about River. She was really impressed with his loyalty and sticking by her while a nasty rumor was flooding the halls. He’s a really great friend to her. The last bell of the day rang, and all of the students rushed out of class. Dallas stopped River and asked him if he would like to go to the Spooky Season Spectacular with her that Friday. Dallas and Zuri went to cheer practice together and once practice was done, Dallas went straight home to avoid the whispers. Burying her face in her homework was actually a relief for her tonight. Hopefully by tomorrow, Hallway Hearsay moves on to the next rumor.
Holden Update 14 Fall | Week 1 - Part II: Happy Birthday Keaton!
Birthday Highlight “Wake up Keaton, it’s your birthday!” yelled Darla as she walked past Keaton’s bedroom. She was on her way downstairs to start cooking up some breakfast for his special day. As Keaton climbed down his loft bed and went into the bathroom to get ready for the day. Keaton’s birthday fell on a Thursday, so he still had to attend school. Holden Update 15 Fall | Week 1 - Part III: When Life Gives You Lemons Weekend Highlights FRIDAY Boo! It’s Spooky Day, a day full of tricks, treats, and scare-tastic events! Both Keaton and Dallas woke up excited to later attend the Spooky Season Spectacular which is a music festival event that was headlining DJ Dark Knight. It was going to be a night to remember!
Dallas got to school, put her books in her locker, and heard a loud scream from down the hall. It was Sydney, Dallas’ best friend, back from visiting her dad in Del Sol Valley. “Ahhhh! You’re here! Just in time!” Dallas yelled. “You know I can’t miss DJ Dark Knight! Dallas was thrilled! Not only was she going to the hottest event of the season, but all of her friends were going to be there and she had the cutest costume planned out to catch the eye of a certain someone. She daydreamed about the festival and how the night would play out. “Whatcha thinking about?” Sydney teased. “Nothing!” said Dallas. “I’m just excited for tonight.” Lucia, who sat behind Dallas, interrupted them “Yeah, I’d hate to break it to you two, but the festival is canceled. As the school day ended, Dallas got a text back from Darla. “OK” it read. Dallas cheered and started spreading the word to everyone that there would be a party at her house. "Wear a costume!" she cheered.
Keaton stopped Lucia in the cafeteria on their way out of the school. “Hey Lucia, I guess there’s a party at my house tonight, you in?” he asked with a wink. When the kids got home, Darla had already decorated the living room with spooky decorations. Wade and Darla were going to attend a charity event for No Sim Left Behind, so the kids got the house to themselves. The kids put their costumes on, put out some punch and spooky cookies (that Darla made before she left), and blasted DJ Dark Knight’s most popular songs. They didn’t have to wait very long for everyone to arrive. Everyone had a good time laughing, mingling, dancing, and pulling a few harmless pranks on one another. Hallway Hearsay is what’s wrong” Sydney hissed. “Have you checked Social Bunny this morning?” “No, what did it say? I can’t be that bad” Dallas replied. Sydney opened her Social Bunny and began reading “Hallway Hearsay: Sydney Lehman stuffs her shirts to appear ‘grown’!” Dallas gasped! “Oh…my…gosh” were the only words that left her mouth before the bell rang.
