Hi everyone. 🙂 This is the continuation of a story I started back in March on the old Vanilla forum. If you were a regular follower of the 'What Happened In You Game Today' thread, you already know ...
Tre and I have been doing wonderfully these last few weeks. Since the big snowstorm around the holidays the weather has been slowly improving. The calendar says it's still winter but Mother Nature had other ideas. She delivered us an early spring. The last three weeks have been very mild and the ground has thawed and greened up nicely . That’s allowed us to get started a little earlier than we had expected. We're just about ready to start decorating. We're hoping to be moved in before long.
We found a floor plan that we both fell in love with. It’ll have plenty of room for us and our future family.
There are so many wonderful things. I love the combined kitchen and dining room. It's really spacious and the views are gorgeous!
My favorite part though is my little garden oasis. Soon it will be full of fruit trees for making nectar and lots of produce that has been a great money maker.
It hasn't all been about the new ranch. We’ve had several conversations about starting our family.
We don’t entirely agree on everything. We agree on the most important part, we both want to be parents. I feel content with the idea of a smaller family. Two kids feels like a perfect fit. Tre said he agreed but I could read his eyes. He wants a bigger family.
Tre was an only child. Consuela was the only one in her family to have only one child. I think he feels like he missed out on something because of it. Or maybe he feels like she missed out. Maybe he feels if we have a big family she can experience it too, as a grandmother.
He finally confided in me after some careful coaxing what I already suspected. He wanted more than just two kids. He'd like to have three at least. Maybe more. I think he was reluctant to say so earlier because he was worried about my feelings.
We have a lot more to discuss about that. For now I won’t rule it out. But honestly I’m not feeling it. I may feel differently once we actually have kids.
Speaking of family, we also talked about our four legged kids. We’ve reconsidered our plans for the stable. We had been planning a larger one than what we have now. We had to admit Spirit is the only one who uses the current stable, except when it’s stormy. If there’s no hail or lightning Peanut and Nashville seem perfectly happy sleeping outside. There is a nice upside, the smaller stable will give them more room to run.
Spirit should be ready for training soon and the extra space will come in handy. I can’t wait to see how much of Peanut’s champion genes Spirit has, and what she does with them.
Tre and I thought it would be nice to create a small guest house over the stable too. Nothing fancy, just a private, cozy space for our parents when they visit.
We haven’t made up our minds about what to do with the old ranch. We were thinking about renting it out. Then we had an idea. We could refurbish the old stables and make them into a farm shop. We could sell all the produce and nectar straight from the farm. There would be a lot of work involved, but it’s something we’re thinking about.
My woman’s intuition is telling me our lives are about to change. I feel like it's going to be good change. The new ranch is just the beginning. I’m really excited, but deep down a bit apprehensive too.
Fun and exciting update! Reading about the thought for a shop made me smile😁 The house is turning out great, the floorplan looks awesome😃 Lots of luck for their future 😁
The ranch looks great! The floor plan gives them lots of extra bedrooms for when they decide to start having children ❤️The space above the barn will be great for guests!
I love the L-shaped house! My Ancestral home is L-Shaped. I say is, because it was still standing in 1961. Built likely around the 1740s, it was sold and has been added onto, but the L-shape is the original building. I love what you've done with the ranch! Looking forward to the "change" that's coming up. I think I have a hunch, but I'll wait and see.
