Diversity in BG Deco Portraits

now I get what this threads about.. I agree with it now. Since in my Swanson legacy-the founder, the woman is Indian (and I do mean from India) well her husband, is Chinese

This NEEDS to happen! To all those who voted no, Why are you voting against new (preferably free) content??

Early on, I tried to remedy this myself, by posing and painting non-European sims. Unfortunately, the portraits did not look like the portraits in the decorative-catalog, and the frames you get with painting look horrible.

I don't use cc, so I need EA to fix this. It boggles my mind that ethnic diversity was not considered in making the portraits to begin with!

@Cynna, thank you! Yes, I'm frustrated that my sims from Asia, Africa, Australia, South America, and from various tribes in Central and North America, cannot display historic paintings and photographs of their ancestors...because there aren't any.

It's a cultural/ethnic blind spot on the part of EA.

I've read that the SimGurus respond more readily to Twitter suggestions, but I'm not on Twitter. Would those of you who also lament the lack of cultural diversity in base-game portraits who are also on Twitter be so kind as to make this request on the appropriate SimGuru's Twitter feeds (or whatever the correct term is!)?

I'd tag one here, but I don't know which one would be the most appropriate to name.

@Sigzy05 - since you don't object to having different sims in different portraits, is there any chance I can persuade you to join my efforts to get more diversity in base-game portraits, for those of us who are dismayed by having no non-European 'famous portraits' to hang on our sims' walls? :smile:

@Cynna - that's a great explanation. I too try to have the right town/neighborhood/lot/house/furniture/deco for every household I play. The furniture selection has grown, but the art selection still doesn't have paintings, photographs, or statues of sims who (or whose ancestors) originated in a continent other than Europe. That's quite an oversight on Maxis/EA's part, one that most corporations would want fixed before their product or service reached the market. This one's lasted 4 years. Time to fix it!

I found a list of SimGurus who are on Twitter (I'm not, or I'd ask SimGuruKimmi if she could do anything about this) -- do any of them visit or post at the forum? I'll tag SimGuruKate if no one knows of anyone more appropriate. :smile:
