Hobbies Gamepack

I always wanted more sports in the sims 4 so I came up with an idea to have a game pack that adds more activities for your sims and more hobbies!

Sports

Basketball - this should be more developed than in cl where our sim can play together.

Volleyball - I don't think we have any type of beach in the sims 4 but I was more thinking the kind you play on a court but beach volleyball is cool too.

Martial Arts - This would be really cool.

Fencing

Boxing

Wrestling

Gymnastics

Dance - Dance is more considered an art but I would like to see different types of dancing as hobbies.

Ballet

Surfing and Scuba diving - I know we can't swim in open water but thinking about Brindleton Bay, I would love to have surfing and scuba diving.

Water sports - Again, I'm imagining that sims can swim in open water and if they can then water sports like canoeing/rowing would be fun.

Rollerblading

Horseracing - We don't have horses but if we got them I would really like horseracing.

Water polo - This is more to give sims more things to do in pools.

Swimming - would be great if our sims could compete against each other.

Synchronized swimming

Winter sports - We would have to get a seasons expansion. The packs would overlap I guess so maybe this wouldn't work but ice skating and snowboarding would be fun too.

Etc..

Those are just some sports they could add. I'm not sure how they would implement this but I just want to see sims have competitions and matches, I think that would be fun. I also want our sims to be able to watch these competitions and matches and cheer other Sims on. Maybe even bet on e winner and gain or lose money. I don't expect them to use all of these sports, these are just ideas.

Hobbies

Exploration
Knitting/Sewing
Sketching
Gambling
Scrapbooking
Pottery
Beekeeping
Crafting

Lot Types

Stadium
Golf course
Roller Rink
Dance Studio

This post will be edited with more ideas and more details. Feel free to comment more ideas and I'll add it to the op.
  • I would love for them to bring these hobbies in! They're all great! I don't know if this would belong in something like this; but I was recently wishing my school-age Sims would have things like swim teams or swimming practice and competitions.

Thanks for posting the pictures, they were fun to look at. :)

    Sports

Boxing - Might be too violent.

Yes. All of my yes. Take nothing but the yes. Shut up and take my yes. I'd really like more of this in the game. Specifically, the following:
Boxing. I don't know. As I mentioned, there was a game that allowed Sims to kill other Sims which was the Sims Medieval. And with Martial Arts, they do hit each other. I'd like to see this since it feels so odd to me you can only use boxing skills with the bag. Why add it in if it can't be used for what its originally supposed to be used for?

I know you guys are just trying to be diplomatic but this way of thinking really bothers me as I feel the developers are feeling the same way. And the reason why this way of thinking bothers me is because rather than trying to take a popular scenario or event that has problematic aspects in real life and trying to adapt them into something that makes your Sim feel more unique while also finding a way to present it with that trademark Sims humour, they decide to not include it at the risk of offending someone.

We know in real life that boxing can cause serious brain injuries and most fight ends in bloodshed. However, this does not need to be the case in The Sims games. Have Sims face off against each other in a boxing ring. Boxing one another should be animated in a silly slapstick manner, where the losing Sim becomes dazed and maybe some cartoon stars spin around their head when they lose a match. There's no need to include blood or gore here. There's a way to present violence and darker aspects of society in the game without going over the line and things should always be presented in an always cheeky, goofy manner. The Sims is a game for teens and older so there's no need to design it likes its a game for ultra-sensitive 6 year olds. And if there are things like fires, burglaries, crime, random natural disasters that might be triggering to certain players, give them the option to turn these off in the Game Options menu.

There are certain things you can't make light of in The Sims but it's absolutely possible to include lots of scenarios with darker implications in the game while still retaining the silly light-hearted nature of the series. Like let our Sims actually be Evil for example rather than just have them laugh maniacally and discuss evil plans. Let that gold digger murder her husband but do it in a way that invokes the silliness of Cluedo rather than something presented as unbearably bleak or violent. Allow Sims to fight each other in public and keep the silliness of a cartoon cloud surrounding them when they fight. The console game Urbz: Sims in the City allowed you to even mug other Sims in an over-the-top exaggerated way. These various crimes should then be solved by police, giving the Sims' world a feeling of consequence and also giving the game a sense of poignancy while also remaining ultimately humourous. It's not as tricky a balancing act as many seem to believe. Tone is important.

Violent sports like boxing, kickboxing, martial arts, rugby, fencing, ax throwing and even American football should be included in the game as they promote fitness and the game doesn't have any responsibility to portray the potentially dangerous "what ifs" involved. It can include the positive aspects of these activities without delving into the negatives or having to show gore. I'd even like the minor risk of Sims on rare occasion, accidentally meeting their end during a fencing match or ax throwing competition (with the option to turn this off if it's too far for some people) and no, it doesn't need to be portrayed as bloody or gory.

I really miss the satiric element of The Sims. The crux of the game is unbeaten levels of customisation and a satire of life. One that's ultimately positive and light-hearted but it shouldn't be afraid to include a little bit of cartoon violence or negative consequences for your Sims.
  • Hi @kaiwrysims;

Apologies, I understand this is something you want too. It's just frustrating that we have to speculate that it would be okay because it doesn't fit into the cookie cutter world of The Sims 4.
  • We have a pool why not synchronized swimming, or this sound more like something for a club?
  • Sewing would be nice. Similar to sims 2 you can craft toys and such with the edition of custom outfits and perhaps bed sheets and animal clothing. If you’re a poor sim starting out you can take requests from neighbours and make something for them, or sell items at the festivals introduced in city living.

Or something more toward the paranormal such as a medium or investigator, rather than capture ghosts you can catalogue encounters and interact more with them, bring back the ability to have a ghost family depending how close you are to one and have the choice to be one the side of good or evil. Evil has you scaring and tormenting the living with help from angry ghosts, sabotage boards and introduce negative energy to a sim of your choice, a neighbour, family member you don’t get on with, etc.
the side of good has you reuniting lost family, lovers, solving sad stories and uncovering secrets of local estates.
Maybe a mother died in a fire and wants to see her son again, maybe a child following their death was buried in the wrong place and needs to be placed with their parents to find peace, it’s an emotional hobby that may upset some but sort of gives the player a sense of achievement because they’ve helped bring spirits to rest.

Maybe competitive baking/cooking, face off against locals in competitions around the world and whoever wins receives a cash prize of some sort. You have the options to help or hinder rivals progress and even destroy their chance of winning by poisoning their dish and potentially killling the judge.

    Just a few ideas
