Immersion in a simulation game is everything.
The reason I don't hire maids or butlers in my game is because there is simply no need for one in small households. What's a maid going to do coming in every day? Sims do their own dishes most of the times, sinks and bathtubs don't get dirty that often, you get the occasional puddle when a sink breaks but that doesn't happen often either, and if you have a roomba you don't need to vacuum.
