He brought along Brenda, as he thought she should properly meet her mother, but rightfully so, she was wary of the woman who had abandoned her.

Since Max has completed the Chief of Mischief aspiration, he can now "sabotage" other sims, which means that they become more likely to fail at their tasks for a bit after the interactions. Good old Cameron was Max's perfect first target.
