You can edit twice so go ahead and edit some more. Thoughts your character think to himself is called "internal dialogue" because you are not speaking aloud, so you don't need speech marks (quotations) for internal thoughts. Just remember to use a new line for each new person speaking and if you say something then fill in with an action and then speak again, this can all be in one paragraph.
The best thing to do, I find is to read it out aloud and that helps you decide where to put commas, full stops, and gives you a good opportunity to think about where paragraphs start.
