New life stage discussion: mid adults

Middle adults, a new life stage for The Sims 4.

In real life, this age could cover the 45 to 60 years old.

Middle adults can be a free update for base game, with some assets for CAS from adults like clothes, but eventually, they will have an own Stuff Pack with new clothes, traits and gameplay activities.

Development of progressive in-game white hair and wrinkle will trigger new moodlets. Exclusive or unique traits for middle adults can also give new drama and gameplay progression, like mid-life crisis.

  • I'm all for a middle aged sim they can get senior discounts discounts and possibly I can make the golden girls lol.
  • For middle adults:

•Middle adults will grow more wrinkles, more then adults but less then elders.
They will also grow white hair.

•Chance in fertility is much lower then in Adults.

•Sims who didn't do much in life(Like the Sims 3) will get a Tense "Midlife Crisis" moodlet.
This will trigger new, powerful whims.

•Middle adult Females will still have a chance of fertility, although this is signaficantly decreased.
However, middle adult Males can still have a good chance of fertility, if the female is Adult or younger.

•Males often grow longer beards and long hair.

This is what I want for middle adults!

    Usually ages 40-64
  • I would love middle age, which I would see as 50-70, with elders being 70-90.

    My hope would be:

    • No fertility for the sim who can "become pregnant" unless they have the fertile trait, and then still much lower than normal adult. They would still be able to adopt though. The sim who can get others pregnant would still be able to have kids.
    • More wrinkles than adults - less than elders.
    • Phases like in kids and teens, with different versions of mid-life crisis. Not just a moodlet, but a temporary personality trait that is dependant on their previous ones as well as their life choices and that influence their whims and well as their moods. They might get whims to have an affair, leave their spouse, buy cool new stuff, travel everywhere, drastically change their style...
    • Easier to gain weight - harder to lose it.

What I wouldn't want is for midlife to be a newer form of elder, where they hurt all the time, have white hair and are mostly useless. Though my wish is that they'd update elders at the same time including:

    • Personality traits ("reward traits") based on the life lived. (Bitter, Cougar, Fulfilled life, Nostalgic, Finally living life, want to see it all...) - each trait would come with its own set of whims and new interactions.
    • More activities for elders
    • More grandparent relationship actions, including things like baby-sitting
  • I see middle aged Sims as 50-70 they can retire and enjoy life before they become an elder they can like kick something of their bucketlist. Take up a hobby or skill. Go on vacation.

    Second honeymoon, renew vows
