Orphaned kids/pets taken in by other families
I would love if when a sim dies leaving behind kids/pets those kids/pets go to another family member or close friend.
Example an elderly sim has a cat, dies of old age and the cat goes to their adult son/daughter etc.
Maybe have it be something you can toggle on and off? Have a pop up that says 'John Smith died of old age, do you want his cat Fluffy to move with another family or go to the animal shelter' something like that.
I had a sim in a household that I hadn't played for a while have a baby using the neighborhood stories and didn't realize she was almost an elder, by the time the kid grew up she had died of old age and the kid vanished from the family tree it was frustrating.
