Possible Fix to Eco lifestyle problems

Hi,

Reading all the simmer's complaints about how hard it is to change the footprint of lots and having experienced these issues myself, I've just had an idea of a possible fix.

Sometimes getting the desire footprint is a completely headache. Let's take the example of the "green" footprint:

- Huge amount of items needed: You have to use all the build materials labelled as "green" and place a huge amount of plants and flowers. This is terribly difficult when the lot is very small, like 20x15, because there is not enough space to place all that amount of objects.
- Possible lag or loading problems: Because of this amount of objects that are unnecessary or unwanted for the gameplay (they are just added to change the footprint) could make the game laggy and loading screens could take a bit long.
- Conflict with the style of the lot: you are forced to use certain build objects to get the footprint and it could conflict with the decoration style you want for the lot.
- You don't want the footprint to change. Sometimes you don't want the footprint to change at all no matter what NPCs vote in the neighbourhood or simply you want to disable NAPs.

I think a new attribute should be added to a lot. It could be a drop-down list with 4 possible values:
- Green: The footprint will be green no matter what.
- Industrial: The footprint will be Industrial no matter what.
- Neutral: The footprint will be Neutral no matter what.
- Variable: The footprint will change depending of NAPs or build/buy objects on the lot (as it is right now).

Another possible solution is a debug object that is invisible on play mode and forces the footprint of the lot by adding certain amount of points of the desire footprint. This way you need to place less objects to change the value.

What do you think?
  • Using cheat to make it green footprint, the game becomes very laggy. It's smooth when the footprint is neutral. I don't know why that will happen.
  • I just use a mod to change each world how I want. It's a simple click of the mailbox.
