Save Game to Account

I believe our saved games should be saved to our accounts, not computers. This would be helpful if you had to reset your computer or got a new one. If you had to reinstall The Sims for whatever reason, you would be able to resume your game. I know we have The Gallery but you have to make your creations public to save them on your profile.

Would it be possible for EA to change the save location?

Thank you,

  • I copy my save folder to my external hard drive and date it after I play. Then I can always go back to whatever point I want.
  • *shrug* I am not against cloud/server saves, but they can be problematic. I tend to prefer local normal saves and cloud/server backup saves. If I was forced to not have local saves, I would be pretty upset, though.

So, eh. I have moved 4 to different computers twice. It is not that big of a deal and I am not limited on save space or server dependence this way. Actually, the more I think about it, something mandatory would require online access always. I really would hate that. It would have to just be optional, kind of like how Steam does it.

I didn't think about internet connection! It would be cool if it was optional.
  • I personally prefer my saves on my own PC. I too transfer them to my external HD if I ever have to do a hard reset on my PC or buy a new PC. it's no different to me than any other program/file I need to save and move if I buy a new PC.

I would not want to be forced to have to be online to access my save. We've had inclement weather where I live and been without net for days at a time and not being able to play the game because I can't access my save since it's stored online, would seriously tick me off!
  • I use an external disk if I need to save my documents and game saves. I've found that EA/Origin lost my link to the Store for Sims 3 so forgot that I had bought Store stuff and Windows 10 OneDrive has deleted a lot of files in the past - and even now you cannot trust it not to do what it calls a clean-up. There was a bit of strife over it a while ago!
