The weather just took a turn for the worse as an unexpected snowfall has just begun. You have sent everyone from the office home since you only have one more client to interview. You want to make sure everyone gets home safely before it really gets bad on the streets. Since it is Friday, this means a slow weekend in front of the fireplace with a good book. You smile at the thought as you make more hot cocoa with marshmallows.

The bell on the office door jingles gently as someone enters, and you turn around to greet your client. He is a very tall and thin man with hair so black it shines blue. His eyes are a dazzling blue, and his lips have a ruby glow, probably from the cold blowing winds outside. He never left a name, so you are curious about him as he carefully stomps the snow off his shoes on the mat before walking towards you.

You walk towards him with a piping hot mug of cocoa and greet him warmly. He returns the smile and follows you into the inner office. Once you are both seated and sipping cocoa he begins to talk.

"This cocoa sure hits the spot!" he exclaims merrily. "What a delightful welcome! My name is Jack Frost-well, I should say it is Jonathan, but I have been called Jack since birth. I run a bar in the next town. I should say I ran one. It was very popular for years, but a tornado wiped it out last summer. I was devastated for a while, and I just could not see myself rebuilding over there. So I finally decided to come over here and build a new business." He takes another slurp of cocoa and sighs in appreciation.

"What kind of new business are you looking to start?" you ask patiently, happy he likes your cocoa.

"Well, that is the thing," he admits wearily. "I don't really know. My family have had many businesses, in the past as well as today. I want to do something different. I have two real loves. Now don't laugh! Art and dogs!" He chuckles.

You join in his laughing at two such separate loves then prompt him, "Have you decided which you want to pursue?"

"Absolutely not!" he says cheekily. "That part I am leaving up to you! I have $197,500 to spend. Make me a kennel or an art gallery, whichever you like. I will get the necessary licenses once I have seen it. The only two requirements I have are a large office with a private bathroom for myself with loads of green in it and a large break room with entertainment as well as food warming and a fridge. Employees deserve the best, in my opinion!"

"That is very generous!" you exclaim, awed by the thought. You know many people who think of employees last, so it is good to hear someone of a different cloth. You continue to question him until you see a real trend towards one of the businesses. The snow is already ankle deep when you both finally leave and part in the parking lot. Your mind is swirling with ideas as you drive cautiously home in the blinding snow.


THE BRIEF


-make either an art gallery OR a kennel to board animals.
-budget is $197,500, including the price of the lot.
-include a parking lot; landscaping; public restrooms; a large break room with entertainment, a way to heat food, and a refrigerator.
-include things applicable to the business (art for sale, kennels with part fencing for animals, etc).
-include a large private office with its own ensuite and shades of green!
-include an entrance area with some seating and a desk or cashier area.
Note: For those without any pet expansions, you can build a basic kennel with children’s toys as squeaky toys, there is no need to include animals. CC is allowed as well.

ENTRY DETAILS: I decided to make a vet and rescue, so here's Jack's Vet and Rescue! If making a vet clinic isn't allowed, please let me know It has a vet side and rescue side (with 4 dog rooms but also 2 cat rooms), and on the second floor there's a sort of employee lounge space or could be an apartment as well (I know we can't fully live on business lots in sims, but I still love making these live-in businesses).
All dog rooms have their own yard space as well, and all the room's spaces can lead to a big animal yard where they can all play together. Upstairs there is a lounge/living space, the office with ensuite, a bedroom for Jack to sleep in when he's too tired to drive home/employees, and there's also a painting room (/second sleeping/bedroom) as I felt it'd be fun to include that since he also loves art.

ENTRY DETAILS: Meet Jack Frost, the new owner of Jack's Vet & Rescue! After losing his bar, Jack decided to make a new business in the neighboring town of Brindleton Bay, and follow his love for dogs. He's looking forward to his new chapter in life - with his new dog, Vern!
-- I'm not sure if it's allowed to give him a pet, but I couldn't resist. I can still remove the dog if necessary. I also decided to make him an adult, as I felt like he'd be one with him having already ran a business before etc.
Note: Although this entry isn't for the build, I mentioned the business name. I'm planning on it being a vet with a "rescue side", as I thought that could be what a kennel meant. I can also still change this very easily if necessary, if that wasn't allowed!

ENTRY DETAILS: Here's the Staff Breakroom for Jack's Vet and Rescue! The breakroom has a serene, calming color scheme. It has all you could need, a full kitchen with a microwave and a coffee/tea maker, with a tv to watch and with AC as well!
Note: Full disclosure, the building has an upstairs that could either be more room for the staff or an apartment. This breakroom is designed to be a full breakroom though.

Jack Frost just started an art gallery, and this break room has it all, so if you’re lucky enough to work here, they your breaks will not only be tasty, but fun, and you can even paint on the 3 sketchpads in different parts of the room. The art is by my sim.
He loves each of the 4 nooks and main central entertainment area of his spacious break room, and so do his employees! You can grab a snack at the fridge, crockpot, microwave, stove, or popcorn popper paint on one of the three sketchpads or game in multiple ways! Of course, you can read, check the news on the TV, workout, chat online or just take a nap on the couch in the air conditioned room. Jack Frost may have trouble prying you from the room when it's time to resume work, but he'll be thankful to have such refreshed employees!

ENTRY DETAILS: This spacious break room has a cozy and relaxing ambience and there's everything for the employees to have a nice time on their breaks. There's a kitchen area with a fridge and a microwave oven, and there's also a coffee maker and a tea maker. There's a dining area with a table for six people, and there's a seating area with comfy sofas. There's entertainment as well: a TV, a music device, a chess table + books. The business owner - Jack Frost - likes the color green, so it has been used in the room, and the owner's love for art and for dogs can be seen here too: in the paintings and sculptures. I also imagined that Jack Frost loves nature, so the room has a nature theme in the design.

ENTRY DETAILS: I got this inspiration from the kennel I use for my dog. It is a kennel/training center/vet clinic and pet store in one! It's also on huge grounds and caters to a pet's every need. Jack Frost decided he wanted to build a kennel so he decided to do it big! This is a vet clinic plus it has a pet store inside as well. Use this for multiple things as a retail shop or a vet clinic. It can also be a residence as there's a bedroom upstairs as well as an entertainment room and kitchenette. Fun outdoor space for pets too!

ENTRY DETAILS: I chose to build a dog kennel in downtown San Myshuno on The Old Salt House lot. The reason that I chose to build in the big city was because I wanted Jonathon..er..uh, I mean Jack to be close to the arts district so he can still enjoy his love of art as well as enjoying the company of dogs. I also figured that there would be a need for dog boarding in the city, as many sims may have jobs that cause them to travel frequently. This high end dog kennel and pet store is sure to be a hit with the pet owners from the area or maybe even beyond. Jon's Pet Hotel & Supply offers pet boarding, grooming, training, rehabilitation, supplies, and also offers customers a public outdoor space to train their pet or interact with other pets and their owners. The building has a modern design with an industrial style staff room and living accommodations above the business. I have made sure to incorporate Jonathon's love of green into the design as well.

It’s time for another Winter Designer Showdown!

Last winter, you turned Newcrest into a Winterfest Market. This year, it’s time to decorate Willow Creek for the holidays!

Pick any residential lot and decorate the inside and outside for any winter holiday. To make it fair, pre-existing lots must be bulldozed. You can build any type of home on the lots.

Remember to landscape.

As always, screenshots should be taken in summer so we can see the landscaping, but the majority should be taken in winter to show off your winter decorations. If you don’t have Seasons, don’t worry about this part - just pretend Willow Creek has no snow.

I was inspired by New Orleans (which may or may not be the inspiration for Willow Creek) and I set the house in January. This means Winterfest decorations are being stored in boxes, trees are being put down, but nights are still long, and hanging lights and illuminated trees are appreciated.
Abigail Bryant is a widow who converted her large Queen Anne home into three apartments. The first apartment is hers, with an antique and pristine decor. The second apartment is rented by the Baldwins, a single mom and her daughter. Their style is contemporary with neutral tones. The third apartment is rented by Anissa, a young adult with a secret cat. Her style is trendy and pastel, and she doesn't mind dirty walls.

This is a new home designed for a wealthy family, who loves music, art and everything creative. The family consists of parents: mother and father and their three children: teenage twin boys and an infant daughter. I wanted to get away from Winterfest so chose to design and decorate a hosue with Kwanzaa in mind.
Kwanzaa is an annual holiday affirming African family and social values.
Each of the days of the celebration is dedicated to one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba), and faith (imani). There also are seven symbols of the holiday: fruits, vegetables, and nuts; a straw mat; a candleholder; ears of corn (maize); gifts; a communal cup signifying unity; and seven candles in the African colours of red, green, and black, symbolizing the seven principles. On each day the family comes together to light one of the candles in the kinara, or candleholder, and to discuss the principle for the day. On December 31, families join in a community feast called the karamu. Some participants wear traditional African clothing during the celebration.

This year is the year of the dragon, which represents power, nobility and success. The new year often begins with new resolutions for people. So, those two things led me to design a home for a successful self care specialist. Believe or not, word of your expertise in architecture has traveled all the way around the world, thanks to your awesome customers and their families! It has even reached to the North Pole! Well, to be fair, it isn't the first time you have done work in the North Pole. But this time it is a far different project you are doing.

You re-read the letter from Kris Kringle. He wants you to come to the North Pole on weekends for several months to teach architectural design to his elves. The job starts in January and will continue for several months. Kris has determined that kids are tired of the same old doll houses and action figure lairs. He wants his elves to learn about different building design styles and floor plans so they can make new types of doll houses and action figure lairs. At the end, you will help judge their new creations and make suggestions for any needed improvements.

You are thrilled with this new opportunity to use your talents in a different way. But, as Kris reminds you, all of the North Pole housing has been built for decidedly smaller people. So he suggests that you build a house for your own use while you are up there. He has given you a 30x20 size lot on the edge of the Elf Village to build on as well as a $200,000 budget. The house has to be finished for you to use it come January.

ENTRY DETAILS: This turned out as a sort of fantasy dream home build in the end The house takes inspiration from IRL vacation rental Rapunzel's Cottage that I saw while looking at cottage pics on Pinterest. The build mixes Fairytale/storybook, rustic and modern elements, and includes a lot of little things that I just personally like. A really fun build!
Note: I ended up doing more extensive playtesting after uploading my first version. The gallery page linked here is the second version with some playability issues fixed, so it might look very slightly different. I also added a few pet things while doing that (mentioned and added pictures in slideshow). It's been a while since I've done these challenges, but I had some time this Christmas and this challenge was very inspiring, so I thought I'd give it a try. If I didn't do something right, please consider my entry just as a fun entry.
I built a small home so that the elves would not be afraid if they came to visit. I wanted a building that fits into its northern pole surroundings and combines traditional arctic architecture with modernity. I designed a bedroom for 2 people, thinking that our architect might sometimes want to bring his spouse with him, and they can enjoy the northern lights together. For this reason, there is a partial glass roof above the bedroom and the bathroom.

I have decided to treat my family to a little vacation and bring them with me as I work for Santa (This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, you know). #BnS179 - Finding Inspiration

Your next client is running a little late and you’re just about to ask Karl to confirm the appointment when your door bursts open and a woman comes in, long dark braids flying out behind her.

“I’m so sorry I’m late. I had this idea I just had to write down before I forgot. You know how it is, being a creative person yourself,” she explains quickly, taking a seat.

“No problem at all, Ms. Schreiber. I do understand. Now how can I help you?”

Dalanda Schreiber leans forward, brown eyes bright in her brown face. “I’ve lost my muse, and my home all at once. You see, I’m a writer, so publishing new works is my livelihood. But lately I’ve been very uninspired. Then my landlord decided to kick me out because his nephew needs the big old house I was renting more than I do, apparently.”

“I’m very sorry to hear that,” you say sympathetically. Life can be so unfair. “You’d like me to build you a new home then?”

“Yes, please! I do have some requirements, though. I’m hoping if it looks like something out of a story - any kind of story - it’ll inspire me to get back to writing. A hidden passage or secret room won’t hurt - I always loved reading about those.”

“I think we can work with that,” you say. “Anything in particular you want in this hidden room? Where will the hidden passage lead to?”

“Oh, surprise me. I love surprises. A gym, a solarium, a little reading nook - that reminds me. I’ll need space to store all my books. I do love the feel of a real novel in my hands and the smell of the pages, don’t you? None of those ebooks and ereaders. And I’ll need a place to write, too. They can be one and the same or two separate spaces.”

“Oh, three should be plenty. At least two bathrooms. And I love most colors.

ENTRY DETAILS: The new home of Dalanda truly has lots of inspiration for different stories to offer! Each room (including outside) is themed according to a literature genre. There's only a few repeat themes, mostly because I couldn't resist doing so Otherwise they're all different.
This was a really fun build! There's three bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen, utility (pantry/storage/laundry), dining, living, library and the secret room is a office/study/writing room. And a backyard/patio!
Also a note: The front right tree is from debug and actually functional as the base game mystic tree to access the Sylvan Glade (if I remember the name right), if you rotate it/remove the mushroom "sticking out of it". Wasn't intentional, didn't excpect it to work, but really cool!

ENTRY DETAILS: I've designed a Victorian house for Dalanda. Her new home features: 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room, a lounge/library with a cozy reading nook, a little laundry room, a meditation room + the secret room (which will be revealed in the Slideshow). The yard areas are small but beautiful and there are also terraces/porches where Dalanda can enjoy the time outside and the beautiful views that are surrounding her new home. There's also a little greenhouse.
Now to the Story part - it became quite long, so I'll put it in a Spoiler:

A lot has happened to Dalanda in one month: she would never have imagined that she could fall in love so quickly and that everything would be so clear right from the start, but it's true: she has indeed found the love of her life! His name is George Bennett (his name might sound familiar? -Yes, he is the George Bennett from the BnS173). Dalanda and George met in a Library in Windenburg: George was a visiting lecturer at the Writers' Seminar and Dalanda was impressed by George's fascinating stories. After the seminar the two started talking and they were surprised by how much they had in common. They felt instant connection and like they would have known each other for a longer time. Dalanda told George that she was trying to find inspiration for her next book and the two - both being writers - understood each other perfectly, and they shared their experiences of writers' joys and struggles. Dalanda also told that she was in a need of a new home and that a new house would be built for her soon. George suggested that Dalanda could move temporarily to his house in Oasis Springs, where he was living together with his friends Andy and Kelly. Now there was an empty room available since Kelly had just moved to Del Sol Valley. Dalanda gladly accepted the invitation. She also actually knew Andy already: she had met Andy at Arts Center in San MyShuno, where she had attended Andy's art course.
Dalanda and George fell quickly in love. Now being inspired by her own love story, and since Dalanda and George are sharing the same favorite architectural style: Victorian (they both love the beautifully detailed and decorative style of Victorian houses), she wanted her new house to be a Victorian style manor, a home where they are planning to live together in a near future.
Dalanda is ready to move in to her lovely new home and she is excited to announce that she is working on her next book: a fictional love story about a sea captain who is shipwrecked on a deserted island due to a storm and who will do anything to get back to his beloved wife. The book will be named: "Truly Loved".

ENTRY DETAILS: Tucked away in a quiet corner of Sulani you will find the new home for Dalanda Schreiber. It is a small beach shack, on a tiny private island surrounded by its own saltwater pool. The pool does not look as natural as a pond would have been, but I wanted to make it swimmable as well as add underwater decorations. The shack is rustic but has all the amenities one needs to survive. The lot traits are homey, geothermal, and a private dwelling. It is a perfect little spot for a fisherman or someone who desires privacy while they focus on writing their book. Unfortunately this home does not have three bedrooms and therefore doesn't meet the criteria for the challenge. I still wanted to share my build with you as I fell in love with the "secret room". I don't want to spoil the surprise, so I wont go into detail here, but if I have peaked your interest feel free to click on the slideshow link and check it out.

Welcome to another Fall Designer showdown! Last fall, we focused on the spooky side of fall. This fall, it’s time for the Harvest!

The little farmhouse and barn below need a lot of work if they’re going to be ready for the harvest!

Your job is to get them all fixed up. Crops need to be planted too - any type you like. Feature fall colors throughout the build and landscaping - yellows, oranges, golds, coppers, browns, purples, greens, soft blues - all the colors you see when you look outside in the fall. Take inspiration from fall leaves. As usual, there are no pack requirements so if you don’t have Cottage Living or Horse Ranch, it can be a crop farm only. For those with either pack, we expect to see at least one type of livestock and/or a horse.

You can change the siding, fences, columns, roofing, doors, interior and exterior stairs and windows. You can change the wall and foundation height, but don’t move the house’s exterior walls. The porch itself stays as is. You can change interior walls, railings and fences.

Farmhouse loft: Only change it if keeping it unchanged messes up your plans for the build.

Barn: Can be moved, rotated, recolored, and resized as needed. Roofing can be changed.

Budget: $250,000
Lot size: 40x30 or larger. Note: if you use a big 64x64 lot, a pond stocked with fish is encouraged.
Finish both the barn and the farmhouse in fall colors. Screenshots can be taken in fall, but remember to include some in summer so we can see the landscaping in full bloom. The farmhouse needsat least 3 bedrooms and 2 and a half baths, a kitchen, living room, dining room, and laundry. A basement may be added. Yes, debug and cc items that fit the theme are allowed.
Landscape! Remember, fall colors only. Shade trees, bushes and flowers are all fine, but this is a working farm, so it needs lots of crops and space for livestock if they’re included.
You can decorate the house and yard for fall or a specific holiday if you like, but it’s not required.

ENTRY DETAILS: I decided to go for a slightly unconventional style of a ranch - mediterranean. Please note that while I tried my best, not everything might be accurate to the style, as I rely on the internet and I'm not an expert. I hope I did the style justice.
This beautiful mediterranean ranch farmhouse is ready for fall ! Two entrances, front and back. Lots of space for horses and farming & gardening along with other animals, there's a spacious main building with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. There's also a craftroom, office and a mudroom with laundry (I finally bought laundry day too lol)! The barn has a garage and can be used as a guesthouse or a ranch hand's (etc) apartment, with open-able windows on the roof. There's a nice stable and a greenhouse with lots of farming space, with beehives scattered around the crops to boost gameplay. The chickens also have their own little pasture, and there's a cute pond for fishing. Also has a small gazebo in the front.
Note: I usually write a sort of story and lots of descriptions, but I'm not feeling so good and it's almost 3am here so not this time

Skyward Palms farm is located in the sunny Oasis Springs - the autumn is pleasant in here, thanks to the warmer climate. Even if it would look like it's still summer, there's definitely great autumn vibes here! Crops are grown in the small field & in a greenhouse. There are fruit trees, berries, vegetables and herbs, many different kinds. In the barn there are a fizzing station, a woodworking table, a flower arranging table, gardening supplies, storage space; and on the loft of the barn there's more space for hobbies. The farmhouse is cozy & has plenty of space for a big family: there are 4 bedrooms & 4.5 bathrooms.

ENTRY DETAILS: I went for a more rustic and simple but somewhat modern farmhouse. The inside of the house is where the fall colors are represented more. I wanted to include chickens, a horse, sheep and goats. I attached a garden to one side of the barn. There is a patio area out back which includes a pergola and grill. The pond is stocked with fish. I loved throwing pumpkins and leaves everywhere and making this house fall themed. I thought I had put my photo album in order, but it looks like it changed up the order of my pictures, so I'm sorry for that.

ENTRY DETAILS: Wow, this was a big project! I hope I don't overwhelm the judges with pictures, but I chose to build on Red Roan Field so that gave me a lot of space to fill. I added a fully stocked fish pond, as requested. My fully working farm contains horses, mini sheep, mini goats, chickens, bees, a greenhouse as well as oversized crops. The barn walls remain the same but I have customized the roof to add a sheltered space for the horses below and have filled the barn with skill building items for sims to try such as woodworking, juice fizzing and nectar making. The Hayloft has been filled with a few fun things for kids or adults to have a sleepover party if they like. The farmhouse has 4 bedrooms, 2 and a half bathrooms, a laundry/mudroom combo, office, open concept living and kitchen area as well as a formal dining room, butler's pantry and a playroom for the children. The farm is decorated for a Harvestfest Celebration party. I have added a gazebo that has a dance floor as well as a buffet table. A fire pit, pumpkin carving stations, a popcorn stand, and a photobooth where sims can take pictures surrounded by pumpkins and bales. This project was a lot of fun. Thank you @BuildnShare

The Lundy family loves their comfy farmhouse! Pumpkin Pie the barn cat, Don’t Eat Me Barn Cat the fish, Applejack the horse and How Now Brown Cow, as well as a slew of chickens/chicks all love the parents’ Jack and Jill and their daughters, Addisyn and Adrienne. The makeshift ladder leading up to the barn’s upper loft is cozy. The harvest will be in about two days, so the entire family is very busy this weekend.

#BnS177 - A Home for Everyone

The deadline for this challenge is 30 September 2023

The man who enters your office is dressed casually in a t-shirt, jeans and work boots, but still manages to project an air of confidence and authority. He holds out his hand for a shake. “Hello. I’m Abel Walker from the Homes for Everyone Foundation. I was referred here by the folks at the Hawthorne Project.”

“Oh yes, I’ve been expecting you,” You reply. “How can I help?”

“Let me start by explaining - my company helps disabled people build new homes suited to their needs or adapt existing ones. We’ve helped veterans, accident victims, families with children who have mobility issues, adults who grew up with chronic conditions - you name it.”

“That sounds very admirable.”

Mr Walker nods. “I have three clients who need help right now. We could use another architect to help us keep up with the demand, and I was hoping you’d be that person.”

“Of course. Tell me about your clients. We’ll have them in their new places by the end of the month.”

“Just in time for Disability Awareness Month,” Mr. Walker notes. “Here’s all the information …. “

Client 1: Johannes Peura, age 70, retired: Mr. Peura walks with a cane and has difficulty navigating stairs. He would prefer his home to be all on one level. He also has arthritis and would prefer to avoid knobs whenever possible. Sinks, doors and cabinets should have levels or handles he can easily pull or push. He is also going blind and needs his home to be brightly lit without being too bright. Big windows are ideal to help keep electricity bills low. Rounded edges where possible will help prevent injury.

Client 2: Jared and Maya Hong: Maya has been confined to a wheelchair her entire life and cannot walk. She would prefer an open floor plan with wide hallways and doorways to make it easier to maneuver. Rugs should be kept to a minimum and taped or tacked down so they won’t catch on the wheels of her chair. A shower she can easily get into and out of is a must. Light switches should be low enough to be easily reached from a seated position. Her front steps need to be replaced with a ramp. Jared and Maya have 4 children, and Maya would like to be able to move easily around their rooms.

Client 3: The Kaur family: 9 year old Delshad Kaur was injured in a skiing accident Delshad can stand for brief periods but cannot walk. Parents Gobind and Mahinder want to move their child’s bedroom to the first floor and add an attached bath so Delshad won’t have so fr to go to get to the bathroom. They need lots of storage space throughout the house so nothing is left out that can be stepped on or tripped over. Delshad also needs a desk and computer in the bedroom for studying. Provide plenty of activities Delshad can do while seated.

ENTRY DETAILS: I have chosen to build a home for Mr. Peura. The home is a Scandinavian style design, using neutral colors. I have mindfully kept this home well underbudget as I wanted to allow enough money for Mr. Peura to hire a live in caregiver to help with his daily needs. The second level of the home is especially for the caregiver and he should have no need to use the stairs. The home has contrasting colors around the doors and furniture to allow for easier navigation as well as rounded or soft corners on the cabinets and furniture. Their are levers on the doors and cabinets as well as open shelving to make it easier to access items. I have added a special toilet that he can talk to and a walk in shower with seating, as I figured that would be easier to use than a tub. Mr. Peura loves to garden, so I gave him a yard full of plants to enjoy as well as a hot spring to help heal his joints and a few activities around the yard for the grandkids to enjoy when they visit. The home has many windows to add extra light as well as a skylight in the kitchen and dining room. It uses solar power and also has a water collection system. This cuts down his taxes by around $1000 every billing period and helps the environment as well.

ENTRY DETAILS: This two-story craftsman at 13 Acacia Lane has been built to be wheelchair accessible on both floors. A slight ramp leads to the front door. A beautiful exterior with two dormers above the entry porch and a combination of clapboard and shingle siding give this house great curb appealThe kitchen has views that extend across the counter and eating bar to the fireplace on the far wall and to the sunny breakfast nook.
The master bedroom is on the main floor and has pocket doors for the walk-in closet and the master bath where you can wheel right into the oversized shower.
Stairs - and an elevator - take you upstairs where three bedrooms plus an office and a playspace await.

Welcome!

Your office door opens and the temp ushers in a new client. He is a tall man with very hairy arms and green eyes. He is wearing questionable clothing and has a slightly shifty look. But his handshake is firm, and his voice is warm and embracing, although you are having a time placing his accent.

“My name is Luigi Popa,” he introduces himself as you both sit down. “I have a very large family, and I am also a businessman. I want to combine these aspects in a new vacation home on the water.”

“Oh,” you say, quickly trying to interpret what he means. “So, you are looking for a large home on the water that you can rent out when you are not using it?”

“Exactly!” His expression is very surprised and impressed. “I want a water view, either on a lake or at the beach, that is worth millions of simoleons. But the kicker is, it needs to sleep at least 14. The more beds, the better. Fold out couches in some rooms will work, but at least four proper bedrooms. Probably one of the bedrooms should be a bunk room for all the kids.”

“That is a lot of beds, but I am sure we can work that out,” you say smoothly, taking notes. “Other than the usual kitchen and living room, do you need any other kinds of rooms? And how many bathrooms?”

“Ah, I hate waiting to use a bathroom, so at least 4 and a half bathrooms, please,” he says, counting on his fingers. “And I will be working while there, so a home office with a fold out couch would be great. That many people, we definitely need laundry on site. A rec room for the adults and a separate playroom for the kids.” He pauses. “Yeah, and a dining room for large family meals. It should fit at least two huge tables to contain us all. No garage, since that would cause squabbling, but a shed for the water toys and a parking area for multiple cars.”

“Okay, any other wants or needs that you can think of?” you ask.

“Well, yeah,” he nods firmly. “That reminds me, the wife wants a fireplace somewhere and a small library for her many books. For some reason, she likes to read on vacation. And some outdoor activities would be nice.” He rolls his eyes and you try hard not to laugh.

“And the color scheme? Any colors you do or do not want?” you ask, smiling broadly.

“A nautical or beach theme would be great. I suppose if the house is on a lake surrounded by trees, a cabin look would work, too. Heck, I am not really sure,” he admits reluctantly. He seems not to like the idea of giving away any bit of control. “Since summer is more than half over, could it be finished soon?”

You assure him with a smile. “Of course! Will a month be good for you?”

“That would be great! Do you think $235,000 would be enough?” he asks uncertainly.

You assure him that will get him a very respectable house as you walk him to the door. It is a huge project, and you immediately return to start work on it.

ENTRY DETAILS: The Lodge is a massive house with nine bedrooms that can sleep up to 28 sims, making it the perfect location for not only Mr. Luigi Popa's close family, but extended family and friends as well. Since it can be challenging to find renters for such a large property, part of the house is set up so that it can be closed off and rented out as a smaller space for a family of up to five. This allows for part of the house to be rented out even when Mr. Popa and some of his family are staying on the property. When more people are visiting, however, Mr. Popa can simply unlock and open the connecting doors. The space can be comfortably used year-round and would be an ideal location to celebrate Winterfest if the family wants to.
The outside of the house is done in more of a cabin style, while the interior is a mix of cabin and coastal, matching the house's location in between the ocean and the forest. Since there was already a very large (and fancy) driveway leading to the property, this was left untouched and no additional parking was added.
Builder's notes: I envisioned Luigi Popa and his wife as an older couple with no kids of their own, but a very large extended family. Between all their siblings and cousins and niblings, they definitely need a lot of space and the number of people staying in the house is never constant. I knew I wanted to build on the ocean and, being a New England girl myself, Brindleton Bay was the obvious choice for me. I initially started on the 64x64 Hound’s Head lot for the ocean view and private beach, but when that proved to be larger than I needed, I swapped to Chateau Frise for a similar lot with a smaller footprint. I love that all the empty land around the house makes the property feels much bigger than just the buildable lot.

ENTRY DETAILS: This spacious, cabin themed vacation home is located in a beautiful lot in Mt. Komorebi, surrounded by trees and mountains and there is also that awesome water view which was wished for by Mr. Popa and his family. The vacation home has everything that the family requested, and there are also plenty of fun activities for all ages. There are six bedrooms. Five of the bedrooms are located on the second floor. One bedroom is a nursery for a baby/infant, another bedroom is a room for toddlers with two toddler beds. There is also the requested bunk bed room which has four bunk beds. There are two bedrooms with a double bed in each room. The master bedroom is on the third floor: there is a double bed. Additionally there is a pull out couch on the third floor office/study area. Here sleeps up to 19 sims (1 baby/infant, 2 toddlers). There are six full baths and two half baths - the bedrooms with double beds have their own bathrooms attached to them. There are many terraces and balconies, where the family can relax and enjoy the wonderful views - and the views definitely are the wow factor in this case: what a great location for a vacation home, where you can truly relax and "charge your batteries" mentally and physically.

ENTRY DETAILS:The room for Popa family's youngest! The easygoing toddler Niko still has their own small toddler bed, while his older siblings - triplets! - sleep on bunk beds. The only girl of the triplets, Rosie, sleeps above Niko. Her brothers hate her violin, so she has to always put it on top of her bed. At nights, she reads until she falls asleep, drifting off to different fantasy worlds. The boys of the triplets sleep on the other side, with young (mad?) scientist Rocco on the top bunk and rambunctious Ronnie on the bottom bunk. The family's two teens have their own rooms, but there's still a third bunk bed ready for any friends or relatives that sleep over, with the lower bunk of the third bunkbed having been converted to a study space for the kids. There's also a craft corner, science table, and lots of toys and room to play with them in the middle!

This is Luigi Popa's family's vacation home on the #ocean in Tartosa. He and his wife have 8 children, and this house sleeps 17 and 24 Sims may dine in the dining room or on the patio. However, their real estate agent took most of the month locating something to suit them. After Celebrazioni d'Amore in Tartosa was bulldozed due to the venue having financial problems, Luigi's agent was sold the land and built this house in 2 days!

ENTRY DETAILS: I have designed a luxury vacation home for Luigi Popa and his family. The home has the million dollar ocean view as requested and is built on Admiral's Wreckage in Sulani. The home has a rustic, coastal, island theme in the design. There is sheltered parking for up to 7 vehicles, although flying into this property is recommended. The house can sleep up to 20 sims. There are six bedrooms, each able to accommodate individual families but 2 of them can also be used for bunk rooms for the kids. Each bedroom has it's own attached bathroom. The top floor is completely dedicated to the kid's playroom and the the ground floor contains the garage/storage space for the water toys as well as a gym and adult rec room. The main floor has a small laundry room as well as the requested library with a fireplace and the owners quarters, where you will also find Luigi's office space. The property is loaded with outdoor activities for the family and they will be sure to enjoy the many different deck levels offering massage, outdoor eating, loungers, painting, a telescope, and even a hot tub. There is something for everyone in this vacation home!

ENTRY DETAILS: My first attempt at ‘sim photography’, a build challenge, using imgur, or limiting my use of CC. This was a really interesting way to release some creative energy.
Built on 18 Celebration Way in San Sequoia for great scenery and a short walk to the water park. This 3 bed, 3 bath offers a split floor plan with main en-suite bedrooms at one end of the home while guests are treated to some privacy. Beautiful landscaping, built in pool, and horseshoe pit make summer livin' easy for any Sim family.
Tetris shapes are simple and straight forward. I wanted to keep the lines of the rooms sharp. I live near the beach and was inspired by seasonal rental listings. I decorated minimally. I also left the walls & floors rather plain to let other players customize to their liking. This lot could be a great vacation rental, starter, or family home in any of the Sims4 communities.
