The Diary-Make It Useful

The diary is almost a useless item but I think it can have an extremely useful part in story telling and developing characters. What if Sims could actually write their experiences, ideas, and goals in it in real time? It could give each Sim a deeper personality through what they say in the pages of their individual diaries. I don't believe it would take a lot of programming to accomplish and text takes up very little in memory so it would have no effect on game speed. Nor would it require any additional animation as writing homework, etc is already there. Some of what the diary does now could continue like having to purchase it, used as a gift, hiding it, or having others sneaking it and taking a peek. I believe it would just really require adding a simple "notebook" style program to the game. If we ever get a Generations style EP this would be a great addition to it. A Sim could write about how they felt about interactions with relative during a lifetime and memories as they age. I just feel it would give us an opportunity to flesh out our characters and a way of remembering things and aspects of their lives.
