They REALLY need to add a step-parent relationship...

So I know they show up in the family tree. But ingame your stepparent is just a roommate living in the same house as you. There is no special relationship flag. And when the kids Age up they can date marry or hook up with said step parent.

Now I know I will get the "you can do that in real life". Comments. But come on this is just sad and creepy.

  • We need to keep asking for this until someone pays attention. I have a step-daughter in RL, so it bothers me that I cannot replicate that relationship in my game - especially as I could do it in Sims 3.

    I agree that there should be a step parent tag;

    buuut I disagree with step parents not being able to be a romantic interest, that's kind of a key element to creating drama.

    Finally someone understands me :joy:
  • More family relationships need to be added. Step parents, Step siblings, COUSINS! Great Grandparents. Seriously? I can have transgender sims but cousins won't know they are related. Even though I have 5 generations of sims, Great grandmother won't recognize her great granddaughter as such. What does she have Alzheimer's?

    There arent cousin relationships in game? And grandparents dont recognize their grandkids? I didnt even know those things @SarahsShady

    Well actually, there are cousin and grandparent relationships, but it requires you to have already branched the family in that way to recognize them. For example, for a grandparent and grandchild to acknowledge each other as such, you need to have already had a Sim in between that was the child to the grandparent and the parent to the grandchild. Cousins are recognized if the Sims' parents' siblings have children of their own...HOWEVER family relations stop getting recognized from second-cousin down, so in effect you can romance your second-cousin... :grimace:
  • I have mentioned it before but yes! TS4 seriously needs to recognize extended families (steps everything, in-laws, second cousins, etc) in the relationship panel. Leaving open the option for romance for those who want it. But the sims should know their relatives.
