Virtual digital books instead of paper books & new tech-based trait(s)

I have a sim that is a major tech nerd/geek. The computer use aspiration fell short in that my sim just wanted to game and program all day but I wanted my sim to do develop new tech (he's in the scientist career and invents stuff). I want him to be more professional/serious & have aspirations that suit that. The "nerd brain" one was the closest to what I wanted in terms of wanting my sim to be handy, but the interest in paper books doesn't fit with the backstory.

I vaguely recall there was a "hates technology" Luddite type trait in Sims 3 but I want something that is the opposite-- a Sim who prefers technology and who reads books digitally on a computer or tablet.

I've seen the tablets in the game that can be used for writing but I want the sims to be able to use them for reading as well. There could be basic tablets they hold in their hands to read (I guess something like the Kindle or whatever the book tablets are called), hologram books that are semi-transparent and float in front of the sims like you see on sci-fi shows (they would look like computer screens), and VR goggle books. Sims can either sit to read or stand to read. They could download/copy paper books to their digital libraries and purchase new books via the store, but they could select the digital option to be able to access it from computer, tablet, or other device. This would save inventory space.

The "bookcases" for these Sims could have DVDs, knowledge cubes, crystals, or some other type of device/storage depending on what tech period you want to go with.

Maybe the tablets could even have "pop up" hologram type stuff like the book in this news article https://pressreleases.responsesource.com/news/82344/world-s-first-pop-up-book-for-kindle/

While I'm at it, I'd also like some lights & other stuff that float in the air. Would be cool to have a floating orb that can project an image for computer use/ tv screen while a Sim sits comfortably and watches & it doesn't take up a ton of space- which would be great for tiny living.

  • Oh yes I'd really love to see that. I love my ereader. They would need to put the tablet back in their inventory when they were finished by default though. If they also had a hosuehold account with a separate inventory for each ereader/tablet you could customise the list of books according to an individual sim, that would save you from having to wade through the whole book collection the household has every time you get them to read and there would be no find which ikea chest or random surface the sim has hidden the book in every second time that you go to find a specific book. Skill books that a sim has leveled up past could be deleted as well making the tablet's inventory easier to use.

Pro and anti tech traits that affect a sims behaviour and need replenishment and moodlets would be awesome. I'd love to see a whole range of traits that worked along that line for different types of activities that sims do, it would give each sim a bit more personality.
  • I saw something from Sims3 Into the Future that was a holographic computer that floated in the air. Someone made a desktop version of it for Sims4, but it would be awesome to have a floating one from EA. Maybe one that connects to a smart-watch.

Speaking of going through the lists, I really want a better way to sort through inventory. A search function would be fantastic. Or being able to organize things alphabetically or by type would also help. But search function would probably be the best thing to add. I wonder if there are mods for that, because trying to find stuff in my sims' inventory is a royal pain.
