@mysticfairy1 good question. I think the answer you get may vary by platform.
I'm playing on Xbox Series X, it's super powerful with amazing graphics capability and a massive memory (most of which is free)...but with all packs it takes a lot of game maintenance to keep Sims 4 running smoothly. If I so much as leave a few households with full inventories and move on, or if I don't manually cull generated Townies regularly then my game grinds to a halt, it will lag and freeze and likely crash to home.
So, with that in mind I'm concerned with console performance moving forward if the game is going to keep growing. That's going to need some focus. I think older consoles in particular are really going to struggle, some are already. Not everyone can upgrade to next gen, it took me about a year to even track one down in my area. I had terrible crashing on Series S and that actually is a next gen console, albeit with lesser memory. I'm seeing a lot of problems even on PS5 too and they're awesome consoles.
I have to say the news was not what I was expecting. Based on gaming media I really thought Sims 4 would wind down and Sims 5 would take off in this decade.
I don't really want Sims 4 to effectively end but head and heart are slightly in conflict on this one.

You do make a good point. I'm such a Sims addict, I would have to start over collecting every single thing Sims puts out. Some will be great, and some will be ugh (Star Wars). I am not looking forward to doing that again.
Mostly what I was referring to is the things that have broken, and they don't have or won't fix it. They are so quickly putting out new content, they are not fixing the things that are broken. My game is finally working well, after many months of help from here. Lots of us still have a non-functional Follow List. My EA app rarely shows if I am online correctly. It's these things that need to be fixed.

- mysticfairy12 years agoSeasoned Adventurer@simsplayer818 That would be so welcome! Obviously, bug fixes have not been a priority yet. I admit to being a proud Sims junkie! But lately I've been rethinking things.
