New active careers, new gameplay features, and fire extinguishing system
I'd like to see several new careers and gameplay features added to enhance the game. Many of the features and careers correlate to each other.
Feature suggestions:
- vehicle docking and maintenance: currently there are 2 kinds of transportation vehicles available in game: bicycles and water vehicles. This new feature will add new maintenance and docking requirements for vehicles. Sims who own a vehicle will need to perform maintenance on the vehicle to keep it in working order and vehicles can now be "docked" at docking stations in world. Bicycles will need maintenance on their tires and chains. Tires may deflate or become punctured. Sims can inflate tires with an air pump, which can be purchased via the computer or replace a punctured tire. Bicycle chains will need to be lubricated with oil regularly or they will become rusty and break. A broken chain must be replaced. Bicycles can now be docked to bike racks by purchasing a bike lock. Bicycles will have new interactions available: secure to bike rack (requires bike lock), sabotage (puncture tire), and lean against nearby object. Bicycles can be leaned against the following objects: trash cans and dumpsters, lampposts, trees, fountains, parking meters, benches, fire hydrants, and fences. A bike that is not properly docked may be stolen or the owner may receive a citation. Aqua zips now require fuel to operate. Fuel can be purchased via the computer or crafted using an insect farm. Aqua zips can now be docked at boat trailers. Aqua zips will have new interactions available: secure to boat trailer, sabotage (place sugar in gas tank), and leave afloat. An improperly secured aqua zip can be stolen, drift out to sea and become lost, and the owner can receive a citation. Outrigger canoes now require sail maintenance to remain functional. Sails can become damaged due to wear or sabotage. Sails can be purchased via the computer. Canoes can now be docked at a pier. Canoes will have new interactions available: secure to pier, sabotage (rip sail), and leave afloat. A canoe that is improperly secured may be stolen, drift out to sea and become lost, and the owner can receive a citation.
- disruptive behavior: sims can now perform a variety of disruptive behaviors which include: dine and dash (dine out), shoplifting at retail stores and small business venues (no klepto trait required), sims can now damage and sabotage several objects (tables, chairs, electronics, appliances, vehicles, windows, and craftable items), sims can perform soliciting interactions on retail venues using a performance stage or sales table, sims can now fight other sims can knock them into objects. Electronics will now have increased volume controls to create excessive noise (walkby NPCs may hear the noise and complain to the household members or call a police officer). Sims can report a siting of shady sims and a police officer will respond to the call to investigate. The shady sim may be taken into custody.
- functional landline telephones: functional landline objects that have a dialing animation and perform most of the same interactions as the phone UI. They can be used for certain careers, events, and situations.
- refuse disposal and littering: sims can now litter by throwing trash on the ground, kicking over trash cans, and improperly disposing of refuse (sims with certain traits are more likely to litter). Various objects that require repair or maintenance can now be disposed of as refuse. Once the item becomes damaged and is in need of repair, sims will have the option to place it in their inventory, travel to any lot, and dispose of it on the ground. If caught, the sim will receive a citation for littering. Lots with the landfill challenge are more likely to experience refuse disposal.
- new pet behaviors: cats can now climb outdoor trees and growing together treehouses and become stuck. When stuck they will need to be rescued by a nearby sim. Pet owners can also call the fire department and ask for a pet rescue.
- fire extinguishing system: currently, when sims start a fire on lot, the smoke alarm will summon fire fighters to extinguish the fire, the fire utility panel will activate and extinguish the fire, or the sim will summon a fire extinguisher in order to extinguish the fire. However, I believe firefighting should be more realistic and make use of several objects already available throughout various packs. The following objects will now be useable for fire extinguishing purposes: get to work wall mounted fire extinguisher, fire hydrants, fountains, and bird baths. Sime can purchase a fire extinguisher via the computer or place a water feature on their lot. Sims will use fire extinguishers to extinguish fires or collect a bucket of water from a water feature and extinguish the fire. If a fire extinguishing object is not available, sims will have to wait for the fire department to respond. Fire utility panels, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers will deteriorate over time. The smoke alarm will need battery replacements to remain functional, the fire extinguisher has a set number of uses before becoming empty, and the fire utility panel will require maintenance to remain functional. Sims can call the fire department and request a fire safety inspection (functions like the eco inspection).
- Security mechanics. Now that burglars have been reintroduced to the game, I believe new security mechanics should be added to enhance gameplay. Here are my suggestions. Doors can be upgraded to add security locks (handiness skill). This will make it harder for burglars to enter lots. Burglars can enter lots via a HSY escape window. Escape windows can be upgraded to add security bars (handiness skill) making them inaccessible unless the bars are removed. Functional safes (base game not get famous) can be purchased and will allow sims to store valuables. Burglars will have to break into the safe (blow torch) to access valuables. Large pets and servos can confront burglars when discovered. Occult sims can use their abilities to incapacitate or confront burglars. Sims can install functional security cameras on their lot. Security cameras will record footage, which can be viewed later via a computer, tablet, or phone. If sims are away for an extended period of time (vacation), they can turn on their security camera. If a burglary occurs while sims are away and is recorded on the security camera, sims can view the footage and confront the burglar. Sims who have incapacitated or confronted a burglar can call the police department. a GTW detective will be summoned to the lot to investigate and apprehend the burglar. This will activate a 72 hour buff, deterring burglary events until the buff expires. Sims can also call the police department for a security assessment. A police officer will be summoned to perform a security inspection (functions like eco inspection). Sims can call the police department and report shady sims. A police officer will be summoned to the lot and encourage the shady sim to "move along." This will activate a 48 hour buff, deterring the appearance of shady sims until the buff expires.
- criminal citations: sims can receive a citation for disruptive behavior, improper vehicle docking, and littering. Citation fees can be paid via the mailbox.
- police officer (GTW): this career will differ greatly from the detective career as the main focus will be on community policing and crime prevention instead of investigation and forensic analysis. Police officers will have duties that need to be fulfilled at the precinct; however, the career is centered around handling disputes in the community. Officers begin their shift at the precinct. While at the precinct, officers will attend to civilian inquires at the front desk, supervise parolee check ins, and file paperwork. Civilian inquires can be made at the front desk or over the telephone (landline). Common inquires include: reporting or collecting lost property, reporting sitings of shady sims, reporting disruptive behavior, paying citations, reporting a burglary, and requesting a security inspection. NPCs can hand in lost items to the precinct and the officer on duty must catalogue and store the item (property storage locker). If an NPC comes in to claim a lost item, they will be asked to provide proof of ownership (receipt, photo, insurance policy, etc). Once proof is provided, the item will be returned and a report will be filed. NPCs can report individuals for disruptive behavior (refer to above reference). Civilians can pay citation fees at the front desk. Citations fees are deposited into the precinct fund and can be used to host a new social event, the civil servant ball. Criminal parolees (criminal sims apprehended via detective career situations) will have to come into the precinct to check - in on a weekly basis. They simply need to sign a log at the front desk. However, if they fail to check in, the officer on duty will pay a visit to their residence. Community duties will include: issuing citations for criminal violations, inspecting vehicle docking stations, patrolling community venues for litter and refuse, investigating complaints of disruptive behavior and shady sim sitings, and performing security inspections. Security inspections can be performed on residential and community venues. Police officers will inspect the area and assess the risk of burglary based on item values. They will install home security systems, make security recommendations, and provide information on burglary prevention.
- fire fighter: fire fighters will work at a new custom venue (fire station) and perform various work tasks. Most of their duties will be performed in the community, however, there will have a few tasks to perform at the fire station. Fire fighters need to have high fitness and can work out using equipment available at the fire station, they will respond to civilian inquires at the front desk, and travel to lots to attend emergency call outs. Civilians can make inquires to the fire station via the front desk or telephone (landline). Civilian inquires include: purchasing fire extinguishers, requesting a fire safety assessment, asking for fire prevention information, and scheduling fire safety demonstrations. Fire safety inspections can be performed on residential and community venues. Fire fighters will inspect the area in order to assess the fire risk, make equipment recommendations, install fire utility panels, and provide information on fire safety and prevention. Fire safety demonstrations can be scheduled at restaurant venues and the copperdale high school. Fire fighters will travel to the lot, demonstration how to use fire extinguishing equipment, provide information of fire safety and prevention, and hold fire drills. Fire fighters will attend emergency call outs to extinguish fires and rescue pets.
