My suggestion is that the special events get an own game mode like scenario, maybe called "storylines". They don't disappear so a player can start and play through older ones to get the rewards.
Or: After an event ended the old event rewards can be bought with an ingame currency like satisfaction points or a new one you can earn by playing.
Holy moly would i binge play the Sims 4 if i could get all the stuff i missed .... ;)
