Screenshots Causing Major Issues

Hello,

I wanted to share some feedback about the new screenshot and capture system in The Sims 4. I’m not angry — just… disappointed in a way I didn’t expect.

Screenshots have always been how I remember my families, my stories, and the little moments that make The Sims special. But since the new capture system was added, simply pressing the screenshot key now freezes the game, especially in CAS. It makes something that used to feel comforting now feel tense and unpredictable.

What’s been hardest, though, is that there’s no longer any way to disable or remap the screenshot or video capture keys. The old system gave players control, but the new one feels locked down and fragile. With the freezes and the lack of options, it’s the first time I’ve felt like I couldn’t trust the game to do something so simple without breaking.

I eventually had to turn to outside tools just to take basic screenshots again. It helps, but it also hurts a little — because it makes The Sims 4 feel like it’s slipping into that place where things break and never fully return to how they were. And after hearing about EA’s recent sale for $55 billion, I can’t help but worry that this is the beginning of a slow decline for a game that has meant so much to so many of us.

I’m not writing this to complain. I’m writing because I care.
I just hope the team will consider restoring the ability to disable or remap the capture keys, or allow players to turn the new system off entirely. A small option would go such a long way toward rebuilding trust and letting us keep creating our stories without fear of freezing the game.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I still love The Sims 4 — I just want to feel like it loves its players back.
