Suggestion: Add University Affiliation to Club/Gathering Criteria
I've been spending a lot of time with the club system from Get Together and the venue customization from Adventure Awaits, and I love the depth they add. They're fantastic for creating targeted social groups and specialized lots. However, I've noticed a consistent omission that limits their use for university-themed gameplay.
The Core Idea: The "Britechester Student" and "Foxbury Student" affiliations from Discover University should be added as valid selection criteria for Clubs, Small Business Customers, and Custom Venue/Retreat visitors. This would bring it in line with other life states and careers.
What works well right now?
The current filtering systems work excellently. I love that I can create a club specifically for Military career Sims or a retreat that only welcomes Elders. The ability to define a group or a lot's clientele so precisely is a powerful tool for storytelling and gameplay. It makes the world feel more organized and allows for unique role-playing scenarios.
What isn’t working or feels frustrating?
The frustration comes from the inconsistency. Being a university student is a major, defining part of a Sim's life, yet it's completely ignored by these otherwise robust filtering systems. I cannot create:
- A "Foxbury Esports Team" club that only Foxbury students can join.
- A university library (Custom Venue) that is exclusively for Britechester students to study at.
- A cafe (Small Business) that specifically caters to the student population.
- A "Finals Week Study Retreat" that only enrolls active university students.
It feels like a glaring omission that breaks the immersion when trying to integrate university life with these other pack features.
What new ideas or improvements would you suggest?
My suggestion is very straightforward: Please patch in "Britechester Student" and "Foxbury Student" as options in the relevant criteria menus.
Specifically, this should be added to:
- Get Together: In the Club Membership rules under the "Career" category.
- Businesses and Hobbies: In the Customer Management menu for retail lots.
- Adventure Awaits: In the role settings for both Custom Venues and Retreats.
This would not require any new mechanics, just the addition of these two criteria to the existing lists.
Why would this improve your gameplay experience?
This small addition would significantly enhance the synergy between Discover University and these other packs. It would allow players to fully realize the classic university experience by creating proper school spirit, rivalries, and dedicated spaces for students.
It would make managing a student's social life much more engaging and realistic. Instead of having generic "study clubs," I could have official university societies. This change would empower players to tell richer stories and create more immersive, self-contained university worlds without needing to rely on manual management. It's a simple fix that would make a world of difference for anyone who loves playing with university Sims.
