Sims cooking food and just leaving it there

Every time I ask my sims to cook food (which the food menu itself is really laggy and takes forever to load) or they do it themself, when they finish said dish they will just leave it on the counter and walk away, forgetting about it and still being hungry. Sometimes another sim in the household will eat the food they cooked. I am on my PC and have no CC. Please fix this bug!!
