all mermaid in my game not transforming

@FiretheSky Hello!  That sounds really frustrating!  You said you have mods, yes?  Can you please test the game without mods?  Move the mods folder to your desktop and delete the localthumbcache.package file located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder.  Then open your game and see if the mermaids transform when swimming.

but I would have to put all her cc back on after and I don't want to have to do that. it's really time-consuming and I would rather not. but I'll make a new save with a no cc sim & try that and if the same problem occurs, I'll do it without cc in the game  *on the no-cc save ofc LOL* I have the latest MCCC  and I guess for now I'll just turn on show tail when she gets in water until ik it's a cc causing it, plus I don't have to move the mods folder, I can just turn it off in the game settings.

@FiretheSky I completely understand not wanting to lose any of your CC.  Even if you do test a new save, it would be good to remove your mods and delete that localthumbcache.package file first.  Then go into the game, create a new save with a new mermaid and see if you still have the problem.  You can still add the mods / CC back to your sims 4 folder and not have to add the cc back to your existing sim.  If  it is a mod or CC causing the problem, then I suggest testing those mods/CC a little bit at a time. If you have a lot of mods/CC, the 50/50 method works best.

1. Divide your mods/CC in half (maybe make a folder on your desktop to hold the half you're taking out).

2. Before opening the game with the half you're testing, delete the localthumbcache.package file located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder

3. If the game works with that half, test with the other half. (Again, delete that cache file before opening)

4. Once you know which half is causing the issue, divide those in half and test again (delete the cache file again).

5. Repeat the process until you find the culprit.

This can be a bit time-consuming but I think it'll be worth it to fix your game.

it was not cc I don't think bc it was not after I downloaded any cc and it used to do it I think it might just be a bug

@FiretheSky Okay. So the issue is, I'm not able to replicate this in my game.  I have not added any CC that alters skin, clothing or body.

This is Ariel's motives panel.  Can you confirm that your mermaid has the fishy mermaid icon and the Hydration need (not Hygiene)?

If your mermaid sim has these things, the only way to be sure there's a bug with the mermaid form is by moving the mods folder out, deleting the localthumbcache.package file and then testing a new save.  That cache file may carry effects from mods/cc to the new save, so that's why it's important to remove that, even when you turn off the mods/cc options in-game.

@FiretheSky , I want to back up everything @JonaO703 suggested!  👍 In addition to that, just because you haven't added any new CC or Mods since the last time your mermaids worked properly doesn't mean much because we had a game update last week.  That means some parts of the game were changed, and if those changes happen to effect the CC or Mods you use, then the CC and Mods you use must be updated as well for them to be compatible with the game.🤨  It is up to the CC and Mods creators to keep their items up to date with the game since it is impossible for EA to keep track or thousands (or maybe millions!?) of Mods and CC content that are in existence and are being made everyday! 😞 And after that, it is up to the users of CC and Mods to maintain all of their CC and Mods. 😉

I used to use both CC and a few Mods in TS2 and TS3, but I stopped because It became a problem in my game and I didn't want to do the maintenance anymore.😓 But for those who feel up to maintaining their CC/Mods, then those items can be a lot of fun! 🥳

And deleting the localthumcache.package file can't be stressed enough!  🤨

I'm not playing this save anymore. I normally abandon saves after some time.
