Better Parties - Suggestion
Some things from previous sims versions got left out in sims 4, and it has lead to parties being overall less enjoyable. Here are some changes that might fix that.
New Settings:
Designate party Start time and End time: Allows for longer parties and planning in advance.
Dresscode: Formal, Informal, Pool attire, Other? Specific colors such as all-green or gold and black?
Self-Cater: Allows you to have your sims provide the food instead of being required to hire someone.
Mood Lighting: Allows you to choose specific settings for lights, changing color or brightness, or maybe even on-off strobes for dance parties, etc.
Mood Music: The stereos on the venue will all play the same music that guests cannot change or turn off, setting the mood for the event, automatically starts when the party starts and turns off when it's over.
Plus 1 and Adults Only: Allow your guests to bring a friend that your sims may or may not know. Choose whether or not children are allowed at the party.
Please Stay Seated: Sims will have assigned seats like in restaurants- except unlike restaurants, they won't get up and randomly talk to other people not at their table. They will stay in their seats until the party ends or until instructed to get up by a host. This allows hosts to give speeches without interruptions. This could be useful at any number of events, from weddings or church gatherings to political parties or other parties (many listed below)
Hire busboy/busgirls: Let someone else do the cleanup while you socialize with your guests.
New Party Types:
Potluck: Allow guests to bring a meal of their choosing. Allow for recipe-trading and playful competition.
Gaming Party: Designate a party as being part of a competition, maybe it's a chess tournament, or a blic-block tournament, ping-pong or a dont-wake-the-llama tournament, or a bowling competition, allow sims to compete for actual rewards and long-standing titles and rewards to build comradery and rivalry between competitors. Lan party, anyone?
Book/Authors Club: Let sims talk about books they read, recommend other books, or discuss books or things they wrote!
Block party: Allow sims to organize parties with their neighbors.
Conventions: Want to meet all the enthusiasts in the game in one place? Allow Sims to host massive conventions at public lots (not residences) where they can meet other sims who are skilled in the theme of choice, whether it's video games, robotics, art and sculpture, writing.
Farmer's Market: Allow your sims to show off their best crops, and sell some.
Fashion Shows: Have your sim show off their fashion designs with runway models and potential buyers- see other sims in the world using outfits you designed!
Awards Ceremonies: AMA, Met Gala, Oscars and Emmy awards anyone? There should be a show that actors and musicians can actively partake in, and not like graduation either, not your sim disappearing into a building, but you actively being in the theater for the entire awards ceremony.
Yard Sale: Get rid of those items you don't need on your own front lawn.
Pet Shows: Want to show off your prize cat or prize dog? Want to go through the obstacle course in front of viewers? Want to have trophies you can bring home, or meet other breeders to make some extremely pretty puppies or kittens with? Pet shows might be a great place for that.
Bake Sale: either alone or with a group of friends, set up a bake sale to sell your baked items.
Concerts: For musicians to charge for, like any natural singer. Choose a venue, pay a fee to rent/use, then collect on admissions! more money if your Sim is famous in any way. Conversely, maybe have the ability to make a band with other musicians and perform shows with the band? Boybands, KDA players? Anyone?
Recitals: For kids to show off their talents! Plays, Ballet, Instruments?
I'm sure there's more that could be added, but I've always found the party settings in sims 4 extremely limiting. What can you think up that you would like to see at parties or that you think would be beneficial?
