Can I play The Sims 4 while expansions are downloading?

Hi everyone! I'm having a difficult time trying to find a proper answer to my question. I just bought a new computer and am currently redownloading ALL my sims content ( EVERYTHING) I have 9 downloaded out of...42 I believe I have purchased. My internet is my enemy I swear. However I wanted to at least start creating the Sims that I wanted to start playing with but the game state there could be negative effects to playing. What are those effects? Like what could go wrong?? I don't want to ruin my game obviously but I would like to start things out for right now. I know that I wont have access to everything obviously due to them not being downloaded. But would it be okay to access CAS while content is downloading

  • @GSobo90  If you start a new save, or start building, there should not be any negative consequences.  When you load that save or build later with all your packs present, it'll work the same way it does when you buy a new pack and install it.

If you load an existing save without one or more packs that that save has used, then yes, there can be negative consequences, up to and including not being able to load the save or at least certain households.  At best, your worlds will lose some items that won't be restored when the missing packs are installed again.  So I'd leave your existing saves out of it until everything is installed correctly.
