I just had this problem too. What helped me was leveling up my sim in programming. Then I didn’t get shocked and actually completed the task.

I'm lvl 10 programming and am electrocuted 100% of the time, not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    Look at your job panel what tasks are done and which are not.
